Nissan Offers Complimentary VIR Track Experience to new GTR Owners

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan is showing a little extra thanks for new GT-R owners this holiday week with the announcement that along with the purchase of a 2017 GT-R comes a complimentary full day of instruction at the legendary Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in Danville, Virginia.
Owners will use their own vehicles – once break-in procedures are complete – to drive on one of five track configurations at VIR, with a top performance driving instructor advising on proper technique2.
"The GT-R is one of the most iconic and impressive sports cars on the market today, but there are very few places to explore the vehicle's full potential in a safe, controlled and supervised situation," said Eric Ledieu, director, Sports Car Marketing, Nissan North America. "It made sense to link our owners with a track like Virginia International Raceway for a world-class driving experience in a responsible fashion."
Once a new GT-R owner takes delivery of their vehicle, they'll receive instruction on next steps to reserve their complimentary instruction / track time – a $2,000 value. Owners will also be able to explore the local area, which includes great driving roads, resort hotels and shopping.
Added Ledieu: "Of note, owners will be able to take part in this instruction and activity in their own car while retaining the full manufacturer's warranty on their vehicle, which is rare in the industry

MC, just keep in mind before Nissan can venture this past they must 1st really offer higher respect to the customers and basket case ones  in the service lane before offering this program, does Nissan no good if the buyers are so riled up from their service visits. Might seem like apples and oranges to the topic, for all of the money Nissan is spending, Nissan needs to work on their customer retention as those are the free advertisement prospecting for new customers/ getting customers for auto market is like farming = seed, plant, water, grow, harvest, sell, if the farming is done right the product is so good many more want it and this is what Nissan throwing away on a daily basis.

Nissan has the answers right in front of them, but I wont say what it is as the naysayers will be quick snub it and then run off with the idea.

Nissan ought to offer this program to GTR owners it shafted on the resale value of their cars when it dumped in $10K of incentives back in August 2014.

MC this is a very positive move for Nissan marketing!  Thanksgiving!!!

This sounds great. I did the GT-R Experiencee in 2013 at Laguna Seca and it was great. Any plans for doing this for West Coast customers? I plan on getting a 2017, but I wouldn't drive across the country to go to VIR. Please push the folks at Nissan to do something on the West Coast as there is a large contingent of GT-R owners (and potential new 2017 owners) on this side of the continent.
I didn't know .i stand corrected.

what happens with any warranty claims that may arise while the car is on the track?

Press release states the track day is covered under warranty
Nissan added another peggy to the hotline with some crazy accent........just time for some more enriching experience to explode at a later time :)

Nissan may have read for the 1st time...............................

THE PORSCHE PLAY BOOK....................great move for us.

Nissan marketing dept. is really slow mentally but................. are they waking up ?????????

Maybe ???????

Purchased a new 2016 GT-R November 5th.  I didn't know about this and the dealer never mentioned it.  Called Nissan and they signed me up for what will be a cool day !!  Located just South of DC in Virginia burbs...it'll be a nice ride !!

Thanks !!!

good to hear... enjoy!

Hey guys Mike from VIR is going to be joining this thread to answer any questions you guys might have

So I missed the cut off by like three weeks or something and if I'm interested how do I go about inquiring further? Also, if I qualify must I drive MY car to the event or can I come with someone else who has a non 2017?

Would they have a GTR day at a discount rate for pre 2017 owners?

Just checked with Nissan. They said there is a grace period of 6 months if you got your car before the November 14 start date of the promotion.
