Track Edition Finally headed to the US at NYIAS 2017

Arriving at the New York International Auto Show  April 14 ,The Track Edition will finally be offered in  limited quantities for the US Market for 2017. It will not be like the initial version offered in 2014. That GTR, limited to just around 160 units for 2014, and featured deleted rear seats, microfiber blue trimmed seats, Nordring tuned suspension and carbon fiber brake cooling ducts added to the front lip.

The 2018 Track Edition available this summer in the US and is currently available in Europe Japan and Canada. This GTR will be based off the Premium version and will include the Titanium Exhaust standard and all of the interior and exterior upgrades found on all 2017 models. The Suspension will be the same one found in the GTR NISMO down to the adhesive chassis bonding.

The Track Edition will also borrow the 6 spoke black NISMO branded wheels from the GTR NISMO wrapped in a bespoke Dunlop NR1 tire developed during the GTR NISMO's record setting Nurburgring run. The front wheels are 10" in diameter like the NISMO up from 9.5 so a slightly wider fender is also added. The only other exterior changes besides the wheels will be the return of the matte carbon rear spoiler previously found on the Black Edition. Speaking of which the 2018 Track Edition features red accented stitch, door handles, and Recaro seats just like the now retired (for the US Market)Black Edition did. Unlike other markets, the only way to get this Recaro interior in the US is on the actual Track Edition model.

The Track Edition will lean more toward the "R" axis than the "GT" found on the Premium. However it will retain the 565hp rating of the 2018 GTR as it will not feature the larger turbos of its bigger brother thus still sitting under the GTR NISMO as the ultimate track day GTR. the Track Edition while lacking the 35 extra horsepower and down force producing carbon fiber bodykit of the GTR NISMO itself, customers will be able to get some of that NISMO experience with an estimated $50K in savings to their wallet

MSRP is  to start at 127,990 before Destination(129,685 total )

US Track Edition will include

NISMO Wheels 10" Front 10.5" Rear
Dunlop NR1 Tires
Larger Hub Studs
.5 Inch Wider Fenders
NISMO Tuned Bilstien Suspension ( Shocks & Springs)
NISMO 34 mm Front Anit Roll bar
NISMO 17mm Rear Hollow Anti Roll bar
Adhesive Bonded Chassis
Titanium Valved Exhaust
Red Interior door handles and Stitching
Matte Carbon Spoiler
"Black Edition" Style Recaro seats

Awesome!  I was wondering when this was going to be released.  What about the matte carbon backed seats?

My bet is they will be slow to show up.  Why not make the TE exciting.  Nice to see Recaro seats and CF wing.  Too bad no brake cooling.

US version has the recaros with the red trim like a Black Edition did

Let's chime in and report where these TE's show up.

They are going to be available this summer.    CNET has a gallery of the Nissan Press release photos  that will be out soon.  the editor of CNET is reporting it will be special order which i need to confirm but I dont anticipate many of these probably way way less than the 160 Track Edition from 2014.  the NISMO got 33 units this year for 2017....  also the price of 127,990 does indeed appear to be right so with destination its a 130K car

Nice

Is there a weight saving on these?

Damn ~25k over the current pricing on 17 premiums.... hmmmm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Meh...
Thing of beauty, how the carbon seats

Is there a weight saving on these?

nope. they should weigh what the premium weighs. I mean the wheels are a little lighter but thats very insignificant.

the premium weighs  3933 and the NISMO  3911 so  this thing will be in the 3920 I guess even if they fudge the numbers a little

Wow ! That's $28,000 more then what I paid for my premium with amber interior.I can see when the R36 comes out if it those is going to be in the 190 ball park. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok so looks like pricing is   $129,685  with destination and that is before the add on for silver orange or white

seats are basically  BE just like in other markets.  Germany for some reason gets the   SpecV carbon seats

Red does look good with the black wheels and  carbon wing

MC since the Track Edition is a 2018, safe to say to no changes whatsover to the Premium?
My favorite part is the carbon wing, luckily I scored a mint BE wing for my 17. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

not sure yet but coming off the big refresh offering this model as the something  new  aspect for 2018 makes sense to me.

True but the rest of the world had access to this model for a 8 plus months now. Lol watch them now offer the Pure edition. It confuses me sometimes how Nissan treats the US so differently with offerings and releases for the GT-R when in fact the US is there largest market.

good point but the problem with the pure is in other markets as we know the pure got the seats are premium did and everyone else got the  all leather black seats.   so for the US a pure would literally be a valved exhaust delete car and that is it. is that really its own trim/model?    we will see

Nissan can shove this track edition up it's ass. $128K for essentially the same car since 2013 with a $30K markup.

oh come on you know its a steal compared to the $176K NISMO.   :poke:

but being serious im curious how many they will make available for sale  even 50 seems way high...  I think maybe more like 20 or so and see how it goes.    the 2017 NISMO was supposed to have 33 built for the US this model year and I swear I just checked cars.com and 27 dealers report having them.  I personally know of two friends who own them but I havent seen hardly movement on these.

i do wonder if there is an appetite for this track edition car. I think it looks great and probably ditches the soft stigma of the 2017 everyone is looking for  but 130K is a tough sale when there exists such a thing these days as a used NISMO.   if this type of car is your thing would you pay that much for a NISMO-Lite when you can have a low mileage actual NISMO?

the only reason anyone would ever buy this car over the NISMO is well because the NISMO costs almost 50K more. so I think the used NISMO market could cannibalize  this car unfortunately

I fully agree

The 2014 TE had a curb weight of 3780lbs and brake ducting (Lightest R35 AFAIK)....Is the new TE going to weigh 135lbs more like the 17 Premium?

Nissan has been going in the wrong direction with the GT-R with weight gains and softer suspension.

Carrying an extra 135lbs or more around on a track makes the R35 noticeable slower.

A Used Nismo looks like a bargain now on a 2015 and 2016 selling for 120 to 124 with less then 10,000 miles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There is a difference as to how Nissan measures weight and reports it to the world.

The 09 's weight was lighter than the newer models ??

We need some clarification as to how weight is published, dry weight or fluid full or ??

Used Nismo market is looking interesting.
