Haha! I was waiting for you to post this on NAGTROC. Finally, no more EPA, now those wanting an R32 just need to get over the hurdle of DOT...

Its only one part of the whole process. EPA is one step, DOT is another step. Then if you are in California, we have our own EPA.

However, things are moving forward, and it will make it possible to own one of the older cars eventually, legally without having to do all the minor items the government requires for importation.

Only 4 more years until the R32 turns 25, then it becomes a real man...and legal to import.

That sucks for you guys in the states. In Canada we can bring in anything at 15 years old. R33 are showing up legally already.

25 years is the DOT. 21 years is the EPA.

Yes I know it doesn't make any sense. Thats the government for you. If it were 21 for both or 25 for both, it might make sense, but it isn't , and welcome to my world.

One has to be wary of market trends. When 2014 rolls around I'm sure a few hardcore fans and some kids who don't know better will be importing the 89s. The problem is the 25 year old cars in Japan that are getting sold for wooden nickels usually look like most 25 year old Japanese cars anywhere (that is to say most are rotting rust buckets either out of service or in junk yards). the Japanese have every reason to try to get rid of their old cars as it gets more expensive to register the cars the older they get. The 89 was the least desirable of the R32 GT-Rs chassis and engine wise. there are minute changes through the model years but you can always put an R33/34 engine into the cars. We'll see. If the R35s satiate much of the legacy GT-R crowd, you won't see much other than drift fags buying old GT-S Ts which are secretary cars that don't concern me much.... Though I think my fiance' wants an R33 one... XP

Again. By that time there might be a new car of the day or the government may have changed its rules yet again.
