street legal cut race slicks > run flats



the 12 was 2 and a half secs faster than the previous car on the lighting lap with 50 more HP and a major chassis/suspension work over.... the 13 has 15hp on the 12 with tweaked spring rates... the time should be maybe  half a second  quicker..   i would  expect a  high 2:52

Yeah... I think that is an aspect many people and reviewers completely gloss over.  In a lot of respects, the GT-R really is the best performance car because you are not hampered by driving conditions.  It really is capable in all conditions where many of its competitors, who *slightly* edge in optimal conditions, must be left at home in the garage the rest of the time or babied when the road is slick.

The GT-R run flats really aren't a bad tire. They preform well.  The new Dunlop is quicker than the old Dunlop, quicker than the BS.

They are not nearly as good as the new tires for the Vette, but that is what it was going to take, to make the Z06 and ZR1 throw down the numbers.  In my experience, the Pilot Sport Cups were about as quick as a Hoosier DOT tire.

It's too bad that even with 19 inch wheels GTRs are too heavy to use any of these tires including Hoosier R6 and Pilot Cup.

My experience as well. I compared Sport Cups to Hoosiers at Mosport and maybe the Hoosiers were 1/2 second faster, but that could have been driving or track conditions. Of course a Sport Cup would have to be designed for the heavy weight of the GT-R, as it was posted that they rolled over a bit too much under the GT-R's weight. Not sure what size was being used for that report. I have about 20 PSC's in my basement waiting to get worn out this year and next on other cars than my GT-R. Great tire as fitted to the Corvettes, Viper ACR, Porsche GT3's, etc.

Not sure about that. I ran many sets of Hoosier R6's on my 19 inch set up and never encountered any problems at all. I will have to look at the R6 specs again. But even if they are a bit "overloaded" they worked extremely well for me over many many track days. I have since switched over to R100's on an 18 inch wheel. But I know many members on the forum have run R6's with great success on the road course.

Nice article. Nothing wrong with second place. Finishing behind a car that still has more than 50hp, lighter, cutslick tires and a damn good track is nothing to be ashamed of.

corvette uses special run flat version of mpsc.  imagine would be even faster on std ones
