Got a few moments with Steve Milllen at the GT-R event, and asked him for his take on the controversy around the ring times and his times vs Car and Drivers times.

one of his  main points was  it  is  indeed   a  easy car to drive  up to  80%  but  getting the  full potential out of the car is much harder and thats possibly why  C&D couldnt replicate  his  button willow times

also i believe he  said the  octane  debate probably wasnt an issue

Did a test for upcoming  Road and Track at Willow Springs...GT-R is quite a bit quicker than the ZO6 and Porsche GT2.  :)
Yea, I think that's the most important fact here, I made a new thread to discuss that point.

Thank you the interview video.  Like you said you had to listen real carefully with all the noise.  I thought it was interesting to hear Steve say that if he had to drive a fast car he would drive the GTR (of course I may not have heard it exactly like that)... Cool stuff....

unless hes saying that just out of loyalty to nissan, id say his thinking would be you can get more consist times out of the gtr then the other cars based off its forgiving nature. easier to drive on the edge. just a guess.

I had no problem with the audio on my laptop with headphones on? Very nice interview and Steve was very generous with his time answering the questions. I will keep an eye out for that issue of Road and Track to see if the ACR and F430 are the 2 quicker cars. Perhaps they had a Exige 240R around Streets that went quicker?

I would be very surprised if an Exige 240 was faster.

The ACR is a true hammer! Brutal, intense and nothing to do but hang on. Can't wait! The new black in trackrats!!!

I have driven the Streets course and it would not surprise me if the Exige 240R went faster around that tight twisty circuit. On Big Willow however there is no chance it went faster. I think the ACR and F430 are probably the quicker cars that were on hand although Steve Millen did bring up the ZR1 all by himself, didn't he! :) Perhaps Road and Track had an early pre-production Corvette ZR1 on hand?

yes it was.  the gt-r was for the most part consistently faster than the Z06 by 2.3-7.7mph. the other two parts showed the GT-R and GT-R were tied in speed.  so with those stats i dont understand how the GT-R only managed to be 6 tenths faster than the Z06.

it tells me that the LC wasnt used from dig.  nor did C&D mention using it like they did on the GT2.  and their May issue when they had the gt-r.  they were very detailed in saying they used the LC

Jeremy of TOP GEAR on the GT-R
"..I dare say that if Michael Schumacher were to find himself in the eye of an Arctic blizzard, escaping from an exploding volcano, he might discover 10% of this car's abilities. But you? Me? Here? Forget it. Nissan, then, has done something odd. It has built a car for a time and a place and a species that simply don't exist."

Great Job! Good info!

Did anybody ask if the US Spec cars get Launch Control?
