Just like the title says, I have a friendly race coming up soon and wanted to know the potential outcome from my fellow gtr owners. I have already asked some local guys but thought i'd ask the rest of you as well!

A relative of mine just purchased a 2004 terminator that was already modified by previous owner. KB blower and other doodads that puts out about 650 to the wheels.

My gtr is a 2014 with an AAM Competition nonresonated midpipe. Thats it.

How do you think this race will play out? both from a dig and roll ons?

Thanks in advance!

You've got him covered from a dig. Pending the street and the tires on that car, he won't be able to get it out of the hole. My '03 Cobra made 500whp, and it lit the 335's up at 60 on the freeway.

From a roll, if he can get the power down, he'll likely take you. Those are no joke from a roll.

He hasnt gone to the track yet. Just street driven so far.

you car will do probably consistent 11.0-11.2@123+ and 60-130 in about 9 secs flat. so those would be the benchmark #'s

I have never gone drag racing or know too much about it. When it comes to racing on the street from a dig and highway pulls, can I win?

I usually wouldn't give a shit about all of this but he has repeatedly bashed GTR's saying they are garbage and overpriced.

Hell ya! Have launched about 20 times since I've bought the car since March of this year. I'm not worried about my ability to drive.. Im just asking if a stock DBA 14 GTR can lay waste to a heavily modified cobra.

way back when...10 years ago friend had intake, exhaust, chip, and pulley. IIRC he was able to get low 500whp. He raced a friend's stock C6 Z06 and they were close with the Z06 inching out on top end. They do mid/low 11s at mid 120s on average so that should give you a relative idea.

500whp on a terminator is not "heavily modified" at all lol

Mine was 500whp. OP is running a KB Cobra with around 650whp.

You'll put 2~3 cars on him from the hole if he knows how to launch and will hold the advantage until you let off. From a roll, if he has the right tires it will be in his favor. The secret ingredients to the GT-R speed is the weight+traction and DCT transmission. Driver mod can't overcome GT-R grip advantage from the hole, but it will wreck your night on a roll.

I'm going against the grain and saying he takes you both ways. If you go from a dig 10 times, he'll probably blow the tires off 4 times.

I have had a couple of Terminators too (one converted to Auto and both to solid axles), you should win from a dig if you race less than a 1/4 mile..
From a roll he will win, he should trap in the mid 130's with the Kenne Bell.
Try and lock in the dig race and good luck, launch hard and runnnnnn for your life! lol

Not sure if a 60 roll is a sweet spot for a GTR or not, but from what I remember, 60 roll was not good in my Cobra. Was too high to use 2nd, but still low in the powerband in 3rd.

Here's some memories! Can't believe this was almost 7 years ago.

But that was a 60 roll, and it took a second to get into the powerband. KB could be drastically different obviously as well. That was on a stock Eaton before I had it ported and did a lower pulley.

It is nearly impossible for most, and I say most, manual transmission cars to run a 10 second quarter mile on the street. It's not uncommon for a GTR with a mid pipe to run a 10 second quarter mile on the street.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen a manual transmission Corvette run 11.20 at 132 mph or the new Hellcat run 12.2 at 136 mph and that was at the drag strip. On the street it's only going to be worse. That's why people like doing roll races; because they make the power, but can't put it down.

Thanks for all the replies guys! The race is not going to be happening on a drag strip, so it will definitely not last a 1/4 mile. It will be from a dig on an empty back road and roll racing up to speeds of about 150-175km/h, so nothing too intense. The cobra driver isn't an expert by any means so I don't think he will annihilate me from a roll. But I guess we will see what happens.

and just a side note: Do you guys ever come across people who use the argument of "you paid 100k for a GTR that is getting beaten by my modified 20k/30k/40k etc car" ?

It can get pretty annoying.

Yes, people always talk about the money invested but at the end of the day you're driving home in the GTR and they're driving home in the shit stang. Note I've had three or four shit stangs myself.
