My car was torn apart in July waiting for the "imminently released" 12x kit.  I can't get a straight answer from anyone on the delay(s) or remedies.

AMS builds seem to retain the most value on resale.  I'm curious if anyone has an opinion on a comparable kit and if you think resale would be much different??

#UPDATE

AMS saw my post and reached out to me.  They've been great, and there appears to have been an honest mix up with my situation.  We're working towards a resolution now so I won't need an alternate kit.  Thanks AMS!

I'd talk to ETS, T1R and TSM and see what they have to offer in a similar power range.

I was in the same boat waiting for the 10X, the only answer I've got from AMS is 4-6 weeks and after 6 weeks its another 4-6 weeks. So I'm just about to go with the TSM Elite Plus, not sure on the "holding value on resale" but TSM has a great reputation, so that should help.

Since AMS is a master distributor for Garrett they may be getting some one-off cartridges.  Definitely uses the new compressor aero (GEN2) so perhaps that is all, but with the RS turbine wheel changes maybe it is both.  However, RS seems to only be available for the 35 turbine wheel (not 30 turbine wheel) and only matched with the GEN2 84mm compressor wheel (GTX3584RS).  Ideally, you would like to use a "GEN2 GTX3576RS" if such a turbo existed, but perhaps it is just the commercially available GEN2 GTX3576R.  BTW, there is no good reason to run a 30 turbine wheel on the GTR when the 35 turbine wheel flows more and likely won't sacrifice spool.

I'd go with an ETS kit with Gen 2 GTX3582Rs and if you want more than 1500whp I'd look at the GTX3584RS option they have for there standard kit.

Feel for you man. I was also planning a build and now the Billet Block won't be avail in 4.4L for a year I'm told. Look at the elite plus also. Pretty nice turbo but maybe light on power vs the A-12X.

I was in the same boat waiting and waiting. I went with the gen 2 GTX3582R's from ETS. It seems like the latest generation of 35R based kits (ETS, Boost Logic 1300X, A12X) will all get to that 1400-1500 whp range all out. Crazy power!!!

If you only want 1200hp@wheels then go with with the GEN2 GTX3576R and not the GEN2 GTX3582R.  The GEN2 GTX3576R will support ~1500hp@flywheel for the GTR.  FYI, the difference on my 2L EVO was ~500rpm loss is spool going from a GTX3576r to GTX3582R.

Runs are done in 3rd gear.

BEFORE: GTX3576R, S2s, 3" exhaust (27.3psi @ 3848rpm)
AFTER: GTX3582R, R2s, 3.5" exhaust (27.4psi @ 4351rpm)

ETS is on the radar.  I stopped looking when I read the frame rail required cutting.  Is that not the case?

I have the Shep 1K and, essentially, an AMS 3.8L built engine.  I don't want more than 1500.  I'm concerned about reliability already. :)

I just don't want to completely lose my ass in this build on resale.  With the ETS kit using the Gen 2s, I feel like the latest tech will help.

Me personally, no one.  Communication is through my installer.  This thread is mostly educational with a little venting. :)
