Hey guys was just curious what are everybody's thoughts on going from fbo e85 to a topspeed elite build? Currently my car sits as a fbo flex fuel car including intercooler and piping on speed density but minus the inlets. Any advice would be appreciated. I would want to leave the heads unported but add cams, springs, retainers, etc. anybody have a rough ballpark of what this build would cost? Would you do it different and why? What electronics should I add for monitoring things? Trans is the biggest question I have as I'm just wanting somewhere around 1000 hp or so. I'm in no rush to build but would like to start gathering a few parts for it instead of dropping all at once. Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Approximately 35k to 40k with a trans build thag doesn't include 2-6 gearset. Trans limits will be based on torque not HP. You can build to maximize HP on the high rpm but keep torque reasonable throughout the RPM range. Cams and valve springs will help achieve.

Budget 50-60K for parts and labor.

People here seem to forget that you have to pay someone to install things, it's not just free.

For a RELIABLE build on those torque monster elites, you'll 100% wanna get a OneK trans with drag pack, trans brace, and some good red/green fluid. With labor and shipping that alone is going to be near $20,000.

Dissassembly of the engine so cams and springs and retainers can be put in is also somewhat costly, and is added to the shortblock bill...

You've got 30K in just transmission and turbos, and that's not counting the engine, cams and springs, triple pump fuel system with lines, regulator, fuel pressure safety, rails, injectors, etc. 4" exhaust is almost necessary at this level, and some BL inlets would be nice too.

A race IC is also going to be necessary!

You know the drill lol!

Depends on 1000hp at crank or at the wheel. At the wheel you will need a significant trans upgrade for sure.

I'll play counter point, it's not worth it leave it alone.  You can build a 1000hp+ drag car for much less on a different platform.  Granted it won't hook as well on the street and be one dimensional but if all you care about is fast straight line speed a proper tire/suspension on another platform can be had for much less.

I tend to find FBO (or Stage 1 with boost turned down and clutch upgrades) is the end of the line for bang for your buck stuff on this platform.  You still want the 1000hp+ GTR?  Go find one that someone built already that's selling it for pennies on the dollar.

Currently I have 4 inch exhaust, downpipes, flex fuel kit, fuel pumps but will definitely need bigger, fmic with piping, 3 inch intakes. Pretty much everything but inlets.

I said the elites as per I would like for topspeed to do the work being they are within a reasonable distance. Are the elites overkill for what I'm looking for? Somewhere between 900-1000 hp is where I'm looking to end up but be reliable. Yea I know it's gonna be costly but I really just want a fun street car not necessarily an all out drag car. I plan on building a turbo f body in a year or so for that reason Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Find a good shop that charges reasonable prices and you won't reach 50k. This includes all the proper supporting mods AND labor AND trans build (no 2-6 gearset though). My build just barely touched less than 40k-All In

For 900hp I'd go with SIR USM Turbos & a stage 2 trans.

I've kept a watchful eye on the usm. Any idea what the supporting mods would be with this? I'd like to do a dual pump setup with maybe id1700s. Try and keep things relatively simple Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

At what point are tears actually needed? I know heat kills them but I'm not planning on doing insane highway pulls or even half miles. Mainly 1/8 mile and maybe 8 passes a year at the 1/4 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

^^^^This is excellent advice and on point. For 60k in further upgrades, you're better off buying a zr1 and building it further.

How bout a gt28 sized turbo with a 2.5 trans built 3.8 with all supporting mods? I don't need anything crazy but I do want a little more speed and be reliable Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
