A few members were quick to jump on the bandwagon and order the new 4 point harnesses from Status Racing. With the GT-R being a special animal, we decided to get a set for our project and help out with a step-by-step install. Installation went fairly smooth and just requires standard hand tools and a drill with a 1/2 inch bit for the inner lap mount.

After removing the lower seat cushion the shoulder harness mounts are right out in the open. After removing the seat belt mounts from the floor, replace the hardware with the supplied eye bolts included in your kit.

For the outer lap belt mount, the pillar seat belt mount is removed and replaced with an eyelet, the OEM retaining clip, nut and bolt will need to be removed:

With the seats forward, remove the rear seat mounting bolts, the two front mounting bolts, and unplug the seat control harness and remove the seat from the vehicle. This is where the drill comes in. Remove the inner side trim of the seat to access the seat buckle mount, once removed you will need to drill the 1/2" hole through the panel and run the eyelet thru into the mount:

Attach the lap harness to the inner eyelet before remounting the seat in the vehicle, as the space between the seat and center console is fairly tight. Remount the front seat, drop in your rear seat cushions, clip in the the corresponding eyelets and voila! Ready for the track!

wow.. never installed one before but it sounds simple enough...

i think i read somewhere that the shoulder straps after they pass through the back of the front seats are or should be crossed before they are attached to the rear mounts when a support bar or roll cage is not installed?..

does that sound right?

Correct. After adjustment the waist lap belts should be horizontal not raised. Shoulders snug.

Tighten the waist belts first then shoulders to snug.

After use you can remove the harness and leave behind the right console side waist belt and use the standard belts for street driving.

Thanks Sean for the pictures.

This harness comes in black red or blue.

I will try to get a picture of my red harness on my black interior.

Yes, it is safe.

You install the four eyebolts to anchor the four belts- two lap one right and one left and two shoulder, right and left that attach to the rear seat's lap belt anchoring bolts.

The front seat has the harness but the shoulder belts cross and cover the rear seat so that no one can sit behind the person that has a harness on.

If the driver has a harness then no rear passenger is possible behind him. If you install two harnesses for the front seats then the rear seats are unusable.

No roll bar or cage needed.

When done with the harness simply remove the clips on the eyebolts on all except the belt that is attached to the lap facing the driver's right near the center console. The fit is tight but I have reached in to remove the belt clip with a little effort. Simply place the belt backwards along the console and out of the way so that the OEM seat belts can be used.

I was trying to download pictures but the gallery is not working for me.

Thanks for the install pics.

Two questions:

1)  Does the inner seat trim get reinstalled after you drill and attach the eyebolt?  Or is that piece now unusable?
2)  Are the rear seat cushion installed with some sort of adhesive or can they just be simply pulled out?

Thanks.

For me,

1) Inner seat trim was left in place and the location of the seat belt lap bolt was estimated and a hole was drilled to expose the bolt. I used a slightly oversized drill bit in case I was not exactly over the bolt. 1" hole will work fine. Vivid suggested a 1/2" hole. In any case once the eyebolt replaces the stock bolt then the seat can be repositioned and fastened down. I did not remove my seat or unplug the wire harness under the seat, I just tipped the top of the seat to the outer side of the car and worked near the console.
The trim piece for me did not need to be removed and when the seat is put back the eyebolt and hole cannot be easily seen. The lap belt needs to be fastened/clipped on the eyebolt before you put the seat back in- it's tight to put on the lap belt otherwise. However I was able to.

2) rear seat cushion bottom has a small ring pull to remove the latch that holds down the front of the rear seat cushion and the back of the cushion has a white tab that fits under the back seat cushion. So the rear seat bottom has two points to hold it in place. Only the latch in the front is secure- the other point works on passive friction. Once the rear shoulder belts are fastened to the eyebolts in the back you can replace the rear seat cushion bottom and it will look like my picture. You can't sit there though.

Hmmm, after just leaving Homestead yesterday, I was wondering if there was any way to put in a functional harness without chopping up my interior. This looks like it could be ok... not sure that I trust myself on the install though or how well it would actually work in road race application.

I will be having HB Speed fabricate a true harness bar solution that can be trusted at 150+ mph.  Once this has been done, hopefully they will offer duplicates to others on this board.

in lieu of a harness, i use a clip that locks the oem seat belt in place.  you basically pull yout belt as tight as you can/want & it doesn't loosen up until you release it...

Great! Would like see an alternative to the EVO bar.   I contacted BBI about both their harness bar & 6 pt, but after an initial email exchange I'vee never heard back.  Doesn't PWJDM have something in the works also?
