There was no spilling issue using the standard fill setting, IIRC it only occurred when I used the rapid fill setting on the pump handle which I will test later. If that turns out to be the case I will try your suggestion and see if that rectifies  the issues

I used the rapid fill setting a few days ago and there was no issue

I'm curious, has anyone ever had their early JDM gtr overflow? I've noticed that the JDM does not have the evap canister etc etc like the USDM or EDM

Never had this issue before. Have JDM here aswell and Permacap was causing the overflow not the tank itself.

Just came upon this topic and remembered my gas tank also overflowed after a fill up one time.  I have an '11 and thought it was just a pump problem.  Hasn't happened again, but i sure hope it does not happen again.  I had to use the windshield cleaning stuff on the paint to clean off the gasoline.  Will Nissan replace the gas tank even though car is out of warranty?

When my 2009 was new it would overflow all the time, not even getting the first click of tank full. Very annoying. I never had a car that did that.

So after a few spills I learned how to stop filling at about 1/2 to 1 gallon short of full. I did that for a few years.

Now for some reason (perhaps the dealership did something to fix the problem, unknown to me) I never get over fill even if I fill to the automatic click shutoff. Doesn't matter what I do, time of day, which gas station I use, etc.

Leads me to believe it could be linked to some software update? I have not seen any description of the dealership doing a parts fix for me under warranty.

If there wasn't a recall, they don't have to. But with a known issue like that, Nissan might approve a 'goodwill' claim. Talk to your dealer.

Also worth mentioning is the GTR has TWO tanks, like newer Corvettes. And the one on the passenger side has the main fuel pump. Haven't seen a schematic to see how they're connected. Hopefully the issue is fully fixed on my 2015 :). Still have the gas selling dealer filled up with.

My 09 does it from time to time. Very annoying but seems like it does it when it's hot outside or car has been driven awhile.

Will mention to my dealer next oil change and see what they have to say.
