I thought about that too, then I decided I am going to KEEP my ADV 21s on the car with the ginormous 375s on the rear JUST so we can see how they affect handling as a group compared to the stock setup.  Everyone has an opinion, I figure I'll just test it myself and compare to the 2013 we get to try...

Sorta peeved. Owned 5 GTRs now and couldn't get in. Meanwhile sent the invite to 4 friends (non GTR owners) and they all got accepted. SO WRONG!

Maybe your dealer feels he already "owns" you.  I would be peeved, too.

Take this coming from a crew chief that races with a super intensive team manager, and a couple years experience in pro racing.  Don't want to piss on anyone's cheerios too much, but we do see some serious speeds at the track.

I have a check list like this(even more extensive), and every single time the car comes off the track, and the end of every day we do this.  Sometimes 3-4 times a day.  It cuts down on the amount of failures, it finds small problems before they become big ones.

Tracking a car is serious business.  As in life or death serious business.  I have been at the track plenty of times when cars are on their roof, in the wall, or on fire. Its not fun.  I have been at the track when people died.

Most of everything is pretty simple.  A look and a shake will do it. Put hands on it.  A car like a GT-R just hurts the braking system, I am almost surprised to say it didn't recommend changing the brake rotors and pads before the event.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, and its time, not mileage that allows it to absorb more water.  I am sure that they just wanted to make sure that the brake system has had a close look recently.

A quick comment to reinforce Sean's cautions...

Getting my brakes flushed and alignment checked today, and discovered a cracked wheel.  Would it cause a problem on the track?  Certainly a real possibility.  Hell, I guess it could have caused a problem just driving to the track.

Got to get this replaced before Laguna Seca.

A real world reminder to take these pre-track inspections seriously.

I'm traveling on business all next week (except Friday). I have 2012 w/ 7k miles. It was just at the dealer for an oil change at about 4k. Is it mandatory that I go to the dealer for a checkout?

I would say, probably not. You can do your own walk-around. But Sean is tough, and wants to see you extra safe:)  He might recommend a brake flush, and tire and alignment check.

Jokes aside, your probably okay.

The phrase "excessively dark" does leave room for interpretation, but 5% is practically black.  Do note, however, that the on-site safety inspection form makes no mention of tint.

I am, but it doesn't seem mandatory.  It reads "a qualified individual who is familiar with the vehicle must perform the safety inspection", but doesn't define the terms "qualified" or "familiar".   In fact, the only criteria mentioned is that the inspection cannot be conducted by the owner/driver.

Yeah, I'm at 6 months / 2500 hundred miles... took it in for oil, brake flush, complete checkup... figured the day is free, so I drop $300 to get it triple checked.  Now I'm worried about window tint... and my midpipe... and my 375/20/21 tires.  I've decided to keep them on for the event.  I figure it will be a first hand account of how much worse the setup makes it handle (or better in my dreams).  :)

Yeah, they did.  They got us group rates at Embassy Suites and the Marriott.  It was in the confirmation screens and the confirmation e-mail.  But, it may be too late since they said the rates would only be good through April 30.
