How many years of repeated failures does Nissan need before corrective action is taken? They have had more than enough chances to do the proper thing and protect their GTR customers.

I think the general formula would be:
Units Sold * probability of failure under warranty * cost to repair under warranty + cost of negative publicity < cost to re-engineer the transmission

I'm sure they've done the math, and to date it's not worth re-engeering the transmission.  I think this formula applies to most recall / warranty issues on any product.

Sucks but just be glad its still under warranty. How are the 2010-2012 transmissions holding up?

I am going through a similar experience with my 2012.  Goodluck, and keep us posted.
Based on my experience, I'd say they're not holding up any better.

I'm glad Nissan is replacing your transmission. I still think you should report this to the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration).  The more people report these claims, the possibility of having a recall will happen.

Funny thing is that I was getting ready to upgrade the transmission to a Stage 1 and upgraded baskets and seals.  The drivetrain is 6 years and the previous owner had purchased an extended warranty as well, which we transferred, good for 75000 and 2015.  I do have a question, does my tranny warranty start over for the new unit or from the previous date?

The transmission in my recently purchased 2009 has taken a dump.  No mods to the engine or transmission and 11500 miles on the clock.  I was accelerating,  shifting in manual,  going from 3rd to 4th, 4th engaged and then lost the gear and transmission failure flashing on the screen.  Parked the car on the shoulder, let it sit for 5 minutes, started it up again and the same transmission failure popped up, as well as, an engine malfunction code.  I was able to get the car to the dealer and received a phone call this morning that the transmission is being replaced under warranty and a new unit is being sent from Japan.  The service advisor did not tell me what exactly happened but once she finds out I will let everyone know.  I guess I am rockin my GTI for the next few weeks but glad that Nissan is taking care of the transmission.

Would love to know the fault code you re getting on the 2009..please get it from the tech if you can.

My 2009 trans 15000miles (grey import with no warranty) is limping with P0732 (only happens at approx 90c), never launched, everything is checked from clutch seals, o-rings, oil pump, valve body, solenoids, pressure sensors. Everything looks in perfect condition except the line pressure sensor reading.. I have changed all pressure sensors to Dodson sensors.. and its on the way back to me. Will test next week if this has solved my prob.

This is scary....my 09 just rolled over 22k and this is probably my greatest fear. Whats the price tag on replacing one out of warranty? I've heard its dropped to around 6k

Last I heard it was still 15kish.  Shit if it cost 6k to replace the tranny I wouldn't worry about it then.

Not sure what I am going to do with the GTR yet, transmission cost would be rough on my to replace honestly and unfortunately.
love the gtr otherwise

Thanks for posting pics Shawn. It helps to see what these parts look like. I agree, I don't think manufactures were expecting failures so soon.

Out of curiousity, how much time does the OP spend in manual mode vs automatic mode?
Are there any external variables like that that make any difference?  Geographic location, road conditions, etc. etc. (just brain storming)

Everything I've seen its pretty random.
Appears to be no real rhyme or reason as to when its going to fail.....just pray if it does fail its under warranty.
