Rewind about 12months ago and you'll see me posting about EcuTek's TCM development work.

The project was never really finished and was put on the back burner for Subaru BRZ.

While meeting with EcuTek @ SEMA I got the opportunity to see what they actually got done - holy smokes what didn't they get done?

Today I devoted my entire day to figuring out how to adjust shift points on the GTR tranmission automatically.

I'm happy to say that EcuTek's month of TCM development work and my days worth of effort has paid off

Check it out !

I can adjust every gear how ever I want.

Question John, does shifting at a higher RPM benefit a stock car or is it mostly for those with modified turbos.

Not sure how much a higher rev limit will benitfit a stock turbo car , I want to play around at the track with it and see.

But during low traction situations lowering the shift point in first gear helped a lot !

This will help the big turbo cars big time! For those who are wondering. - You keep your Cobb handheld and use the ecutek flash on the tcm.

John, this is a fantastic update from EcuTek - especially this TCM update to prevent the laboring of the engine into 6th gear.
When will this be public? Is there a charge from EcuTek for those who've (very) recently updated to 2012 TCM software?
Final question. Current CBA maps, will they require a new flash with the new firmware? Thanks!

Brilliant effort.

Great job John. Can it be adjusted to do multiple downshifts? For example 6 to 3 when you floor it?

Wow, awesome job! This will be huge to people that drag race there car! No more manual mode banging the rev limiter trying to get that extra mph in the 1/4! Congrats man!
On another decision, should I have you flash my tcm or ditch the Cobb all together and go full ecutek?

Very nice work

This option looks great for larger turbo cars especially when drag racing.

As much as you go to the track wouldn't the Ecutek adjustable launch control help.
and now paired with the TCM controls you would have a very consistent car.

He wasn't asking about higher rev limit, just higher RPM for shifting (exactly as you described) for stock turbo cars.

Other than shifting into 6th gear in 5 secs at 32mph, what is the benefit?

Sean, what do you think about adding this to your cobb cars? Especially having high horsepower and 8sec cars under your belt! Do you think this will give your clients an added advantage? Adjust shift points to 8k , point and shoot with a huge smile!

Great job John. Can it be adjusted to do multiple downshifts? For example 6 to 3 when you floor it?

Why would you floor it in 6th gear?

Why not prepare your throttle applications, and be in 3rd gear before you floor it? I don't understand... Let's say you see a car that you attempting to overtake, why not downshift into 5th, as you get closer, downshift into 4th, then let's say you're travelling around 50mph (top range for 2nd, decent for 3rd), drop it into 3rd, THEN floor it? You can't say that other drivers surprise you that fast that you don't have 3-4 secs to do this. Or are you just one of those guys is cruising around in 6th at 35mph, then decide instantly that you are in race mode? The car will adjust after one hard corner, by the way, and your RPM's will stay up in the power band (until you let off the throttle).

*edit: If you don't want the car to learn or adjust itself, that is what manual mode is for.

We have something else that we are doing which is not going to be compatible with the Ecutek SW on the higher power cars that we do :-)

I love the Ecutek SW just for the big power cars I rather use the Cobb as of right now. Let's see what Ecutek has done.

It's a mapping update and will be up to your tuner.

Sry, what I meant was higher rev limit or higher shift point might be pointless on a stock turbo GTR..

During low traction situations you can have first gear short shift - this worked very very well in the rain yesterday and I assume this could also help out at the track in ANY GTR!
