As the topic says, do any vendors accept Bitcoin as payment?  I'm ready to upgrade my 09 and I have done very well in this new 'crypto-currency' market...Its time to enjoy the fruits of my labor!   I can convert Bitcoin into US dollars and yadda yadda...but Bitcoin is so much more than regular fiat currency.

If anyone would like information on what the heck bitcoins are, look at bitcoin.org or weusecoins.org, or bitcointalk.org...There are dozens of sites with info.

PM me if you are a vendor with parts for sale and will accept BTC as payment.

Thanks,

Kneedle

I did research on it and still don't know WTF it is. So you solve math problems and get bitcoins and somehow that is worth actual money?

It's tagged as "The currency of the internet." It's not a released by any bank or sponsored by any country, so it can't be inflated or deflated by the introduction of new money. The money is "Mined," and you can't do simple math problems. Maybe at the very beginning it worked that way, but nowadays, even using your whole computers processing dedicated to it wouldnt be able to make you any money. You have to have dedicated machines, then probably still work in a "pool" of "miners."

The currency just fluctuates so much. That's why people are having a hard time adopting it. That, as well as that it's used a lot by black market folks. That's what the above-mentioned shut down was referring to. And in my opinion, its currently in another bubble that's about to pop.

Oh, and the exchanges that deal in buying and selling bitcoin for real currency are huge targets of hackers and most of them eventually get hacked, with most of the people having money held by them losing all of it most of the time....so there's that.....

I still don't understand how solving math problems = money. Where does the money originally come from?

Can you explain how our "real" money is actually real money?

I can't earn our money by doing math, well I could. Sounds like monopoly money that somehow holds value.

Exactly.

Here is a great less for all of you about how the money system really works.  Our money has no real value and is literally created out of thin air.  Each and every day the money we possess becomes less valuable due to inflation.  Inflation is a effectively a tax and a tax that mostly effects those who do not have a lot of wealth.  Anyone with savings or a fixed income is affected the worst.

If you have the time watch this documentary.  It is a cartoon and made for the lay man so easier to understand.

I talked to Sharif today - the Bitcoin GT-R project is about to begin!  We're building it around a set of SP 950 turbos, so there will be room to grow.  Should be a hoot!

I've also talked with CnC autosport in Kirkland Washington, and they are willing to do the work but haven't dropped the engine in a GT-R before to do turbos.  I'm not sure if I want to be their first or if I should look for a more experienced shop.  I'll end up having it tuned by Tim Bailey at Cobb, that's a given.  I'm very excited!  I've owned this car for a almost exactly 5 years now.

Its awesome to see all of the interest in bitcoin!  I'd encourage a read through the wiki at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin if you have a desire to learn about it.  Its hard to explain in a couple of sentences, but easy to understand in an afternoon.  If you'd like to jump right into trading them, check out btc-e.com.  Blockchain.info is another good site with a lot of links to info about bitcoin.
