Ask your tuner. It's always preferable to use what your tuner is most comfortable with/reccommends

depends on what your tuner is comfortable with/prefers

that said im putting a motec on my car right now and if my tuner would have recommended syvecs over it i probably would have found a new shop

The best Ecu is the one your tuner feels most comfortable using.. The ECU is only as good as the guy behind the keyboard.. With that said if you have options of both with your tuner i would say motec has the best history overall even though syvecs at this point has proven to be faster on this platform.

I know Motec is well known in the US. But I believe Syvecs has some very strong credentials as well. However most of those accomplishments have been in Europe. Both good ECU's with a ton of safeguards and features.

I dont think as a Brand Syvecs even compares worldwide but on this platform there is no doubt its further developed.. Id go out on a limb and say Haltech is still above and beyond worldwide.. But speaking USA i can tell you its probably used 500:1 vs syvecs here.. So many supras, gallardos and race cars running Motec.. Just my wild guess from all the cars i see worldwide racing..

What makes an ECU "the best?"  Is the stock ECU the benchmark for drivability and reliability?  If these aftermarket ECUs do what it's intended to do, make the power, and has stock like drivability and reliability, aren't they all not too different from one another in that regard?

From what I understand, Motec for overall engine management, however currently Syvecs has better power management and traction control for getting the power to the road. Motec is an update or so away from it though.
