JJ's 914whp ALPHA 9 GT-R, the most powerful ALPHA 9 to date!

A long time ago NAGTROC member RENNtech (JJ) approached us with a dyno appointment. Sadly the day of his appointment we lost power and failed to contact JJ in time to let him know not to make the long drive out here. Obviously upset JJ left AMS with a bad taste in his mouth.

Fast forward about a year later and JJ was looking to make some waves with his 2012 GT-R. He was looking for a very streetable but powerful package. JJ actually contacted NAGTROC's very own VegasGTR (Sam.) Sam helped convince JJ to give us another chance and to work with me on a build being that he was a part time Chicagoland resident. We were grateful for the opportunity to make up for our failed previous efforts.

Well this story has a happy ending!

I worked with JJ on taking his currently modified GT-R and converting it over to our newly revised ALPHA 9 package. In addition to our basic package we upgraded JJ to our full 3.8L Long block with ALPHA cams, ALPHA Race FMIC, Akrapovic exhaust and a tried and true ShepTrans stage 2.5 trans upgrade.

To say the result was successful would be an understatement.

On pump gas Chris was able to extract 820whp and 711ft lbs of torque
On race gas Chris pulled out a mind bending 915whp and 826 ft lbs of torque!

The race gas numbers are officially the highest we have ever made on our ALPHA 9 package

JJ, we know that you had a lot of choices when it came to upgrading your GT-R and we are honored you chose us. We hope the car turns out to be everything you had hoped it would be and wish you years of problem free, safe and fun operation.

Have a fun drive down to the sunshine state :)

Special thanks to VegasGTR as well! Sam you have always been a stand up supporter of AMS and as always we appreciate your passion in this hobby. I hope you find your way into another GT-R VERY soon!

Was that on the pump gas map or race gas map? The car defiantly has plenty more to go definately 9secs for sure!
That was on pump gas. I'm not going to run race gas until a get drag radials on all 4 corners.

You better check your phone . . . . .

I got nothing... I guess you must have sent a video or picture with it? If you did that, then I'll never get them, that service is dissabled on my corp blackberry for security reasons. (stupid I know).

Congrats on the build, and yea 'da grove' sucks, they always gave me my slowest times with any of my cars. I guess atleast the MPH obviously shows a huge power increase, although if you were at a better prepped track you should definitely be seeing more then 136mph, which I think I was getting that out of my viper with just 720 rwhp. When you get to your power levels, you have to start hunting for tracks that can hold it.

Again congrats, and lets get together for a ride soon.... DONT kill us.

From the limited seat time I've had, I can tell the tranny is noisier than before and the lag is a bit more noticeable too. Overall, I'm very happy with the drivability, especially considering all the extra power.

lol. . . I went to the only track open around here today. The surface was complete $h!t and that's putting it politely. The prep itself, was non-existant. Unfortunately, I never made a full pass without lifting the throttle. I was on street tires and got a ton of wheel-spin/hop. I used LC5 on my first run and managed a 1.78 60' and trapped a dismal [email protected] My previous best before the build was [email protected] so, I'm pretty sure there is a little more in her. . . :)

Here's the vid my girl took. You'll have to excuse her commentary. . . lol

If you hit 136 lifting on that track prep then you have NOTHING to worry about lol. WOW! 9 second pass on pump gas for sure!

Eric
Congrats to JJ and AMS! This is very exciting news as we have the exact same build being put together here! AMS always a class act! Happy holidays everyone
Another question, does this build include head work, or just cams?

Thanks,

Dave
Just cams springs and retainers, no valve work or porting was done.

Eric
"Wow" I think sums it up.

I got nothing... I guess you must have sent a video or picture with it?

Thanks Jon and you're exactly right, the last two texts I've sent you have been pics so, no worries ! Lemme know when you wanna go.

No doubt Eric ! That track made for a horrible representation of what this car can do. 9's all day long, I just wanna see how low I can dip into them on race gas. . . .

Yeah little spin on first two gears lol... is that on 93oct, right? just to cheer you up I did [email protected] with a 91oct gas ;)
Wow, those are great numbers, congrats JJ! :) You make the same pump gas whp as my Alpha 10 does, and only 100whp less on race gas. These new Alpha 9 builds are seriously impressive and tremendous bang for the buck.

Thanks Zac ! Eric was kind enough to show me your car when I was there. It looks absolutely incredible, inside and out !!
Congrats to JJ!

Excellent #'s Eric. I too have been on the hunt w/ researching/comparing upgrade packages out there for my same 2012 BE GTR w/ full Ti Akrapovic exhaust/COBB AP/AMS downpipes already. I've been in contact w/ Dan and Ty w/ helpful info. Still looking around for best package out there for the buck w/ durability/reliability. Does this package changes the car's weight/ability or change its other drivability characteristics other than power/hp? Just need to budget for myself and know that it will be problem free for years to come.

Eric, what exactly is the package/build of JJ's GTR? What budget we are looking at w/ such package? Please, shoot me an email on the info if you don't mind. Also, do you provide any financing? Thanks!

Wow. Big numbers on the Alpha 9!
Race IC and 9+ turbos?

Race IC and 9+ turbos?

Yes, the new alpha 9 turbos feature a larger comprossor cover along with whatever else they did to it over the older version.
Good. Anxious to see what this car will do at the track all out on race gas.
Looks good guys
Congrats JJ on the new build! That AMS Alpha 9+ package looks like the real deal with the AMS Race I/C. I will be joining Alpha 9+ group soon (under construction at FabShopMiami as we speak!) - can't wait!
Looks great. Excited to see track and 60-130 results for this package!

Absolutely ! I have family in SoFla so, sometime this winter when you guys have a planned track night, I'll come down. Go Gators !!!
