They were successful, clicking off a 192mph pass with a 7.63 second elapsed time. This represents the fastest R35 quarter mile speed to date and shores up ETS's records for both quickest (elapsed time) and fastest (trap speed) GT-R in the world. Through the film, JJ describes his experiences of meeting Kato for the first time during his exclusive invite to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. While Ohlins previously offered a coilover option for the GT-R, this offering is built to NISMO’s specifications. Diving into the numbers of this setup, the spring rate is said to be 176 N/mm front and 78 N/mm rear, compared with Ohlins previous offering of 160 N/mm front and 90 N/mm rear. Damping force is manually adjustable in 20 steps which means that this setup will not work with the GT-Rs factory setup switch. As with many coilover suspensions, this one will allow the ride height to be adjusted, with a possible reduction of 20mm front and 10mm rear. Overall, NISMO says owners should expect a ride that will be more firm.

NISMO and Ohlins have a history together with the GT-R. When Nissan set out to achieve a Nurburgring record with the GT-R NISMO, NISMO turned to F1 company Williams for assistance. In building the time attack GT-R NISMO, NISMO and Williams worked with Olhins on a new adjustable suspension for the GT-R. The result of their work was seen in a 7’08” Nurburgring lap time in the hands of Michael Krumm.

The NISMO and Ohlins relationship carries over into professional racing as well. Ohlins works closely with JRM, the professional motorsport company that NISMO has partnered with to build the GT-R NISMO GT3. As a part of this collaboration, Ohlins supplies suspension components for NISMO and the GT-R NISMO GT3 race car.
