Glad you guys are finding it helpful. I'm doing some rewriting. Also I added a link to our new GTR DIY Maintenance & How To article listing page.

I am glad I found this. Should read it before my GT-R purchase :) transmission oil was overheated five times by first stupid owner! I would buy that car anyway but maybe for better price, who knows... :)

I am also glad that I took the time to read these FAQ's. I am looking to buy a used 2009 GTR in the near future and the info was definitely helpful especially what to look for when buying a used GTR. For the amount of money you will be spending, it is a good thing to be cautious when looking.

Thanks!

Thank you so much for this post. The GTR has been my dream car since the inception of the Skyline. Now that I'm at the point where I can actually purchase one, this post answered practically every question I had.

Thank you again and hopefully when the weather warms up in Chicago I will purchase my dream.

A really great write up. I wish I had read it 1,000 miles ago! The dealer didn't mention the break in process. He said, "Just drive it, you'll figure out the controlls." AJ

I had a few questions....sorry if they're dumb questions but I just want to make sure.
In the section "Things to Know - Buying Used" it says:

(1) If it's an MY2009, was the transmission software updated (to LC2?) If not, how many LC1 launches does it have? Ask if this can be printed (note: consult3 calls these VDC Off Stall Starts)

What if the software is currently updated to LC2, do I still ask for the report to see how many LC1 launches there were? Does the report show the history show the activity in LC1? And if so, what in the report determines whether you should say yay or nay on the purchase?

if the 2009 car was flashed to the LC2 by the dealer before it was sold then no there is no reason as it wouldnt have any LC1 launches. If it was a preowned car that was flashed then its possible there could be any number of LC1 launches. The report will show VDC OFF STALL STARTS and even though the car has LC2 it will still show the LC1 launches if there were any. I would say more than a handful would make me weary of a purchase. If it had say 5-6 then was flashed to LC2 no big deal. if you see a few dozen on there thats a different story

I have one question for all the GTR owners. God forbid something happens to where I need it transported to the dealer or the GTR body shop , who do you call ?? Due to the degree limits of a roll back
