I never park crooked or take up more than one spot as I think it entices people to mess with your car and you look like a giant douche. I always park very far away as I don't mind the exercise and I will park near another nice car as I know they won't ding my door and I am mindful of the same.  After my 40 something years on this earth I finally caught one of those idiots in a junker parking too close to my car 25 yards away from any other cars and 100's of empty spots around.  90's something F-150, I'm backed in and he pulled in so we were drivers door to drivers door.  As I walk out of Home Depot I can see my car way off in the distance, and I could tell, even from that far away, that some dick-hole parked almost mirror to mirror.  There is a guy about 20 feet in front of me and after walking a bit more I realize this idiot is heading for the spot where we are parked.  I walk faster so I get closer to him, he gets to his truck and has to squeeze between my GTR and his truck so he can get to his door. I stand there staring at him as he opens it and tries to squeeze in.  He shuts the door and I walk up to his open window and notice that, what I assume is his wife, is sitting in the passenger seat. I said, "What posses a full grown man to do something like this on purpose?  Did I offend you in some way by parking at the ass end of the parking lot?"  He and his wife both stared straight ahead and pretended not to see me.  Crazy, just a normal, 40 something year old dude like me.

I'm glad the situation didn't escalate, because anyone can feel threatened, and retaliate in unknown ways, even in cases like this where the person was clearly trying to provoke a reaction. Granted, he probably didn't count on you being around and questioning you about parking right next to him. He probably just wanted to imagine how upset you were after seeing his pick 'em up truck right next to yours in the middle of no where. In my own, similar, situation, I was careful not to be confrontational when asking the driver of the car that parked right next to mine why he did so with so many empty parking spaces, and much closer to the building. It was presented as a, hey, I'm just curious, type of question. I know not to provoke people if I can, because I've had one driver pull out a pistol and put it in my face (happened long ago, and all I was doing was riding my bike on the side of the road, and he didn't feel bikes belonged there). I can still remember the end of the barrel pushing my nose in, and I could see all the rounds in the revolver. That was almost 50 years ago, so I can only imagine how people are that much more on edge.

I would get a lot of attention in my WRX, more than likely because it was slightly modded on the exterior and quite modded under the hood. Very loud with a straight pipe and a EWG. However, there are always those crazies or haters around. I would park it around my house, but on the street because I have not been able to fully clean out my garage. I've had two instances where it seems like something has either been thrown and splatted against the windows of the car. Easily cleanable within time so not really an issue. There was a time I had parked the vehicle in a parking garage at a casino in Vegas and when I had gotten back after a few days, there were vulgar drawings and writing on the vehicle along with ice cream poured on the top rear of the car. I couldn't believe some people would go to those lengths. As far as attention on the road, I once had a guy try to race me on the freeway where I did not want to participate at all. He kept getting closer and merging in to closer lanes to me. It got to the point where he blocked me between my lane and his lane so I had to come to a full stop on the freeway. Just laid in on my horn until and the driver next to me started to do as well. That was enough to get him to move. Guy was driving a Shelby Mustang. Other than thinking that there is a young crowd also driving the GTRs fearing that they may give the rest of us bad names, the negative attention is the only other apprehension with getting this vehicle. Honestly though, can't believe some people...

I expected some attention but not as much as I am getting! Have had the car for about a week and every time Im driving there is people taking pictures especially at gas stations. I am a young guy and the comments I get for driving a nice car are pretty funny have had a few people ask how much my dad paid for the car! I just laugh and say I dont have a dad and my mom is high school teacher.

I went on a test drive 16 BE and car had an FI Exhaust. The second I entered on the highway a Subaru STI was on my a** and then pulled up trying to race. Wasn't expecting that at all...

In all seriousness first time I ever stepped on the gas in a GTR and showed him the taillights. At the next exit he lined up next to me and didn't make any eye contact and took off at once the traffic light turned green....could smell all the oil from his car (subaru problems LOL)

Mind you the salesman is laughing while this all went down

Had a catless straight piped WRX. That's definitely the issue. However, with the 02, there was some issue with the fuel rod that would make it stink of oil and gas inside and outside the vehicle. There was a recall for it, but it didn't really fix anything. I had an 02 early on as well and even had people telling me that they could smell oil or gas even after the car was off for 20 mins.

lol i've had various cars that did that.... my '02 WRX (FP 18G w/fmic/fuel/injectors/etc) was the least bad of them all.  I just figured its got to do with turbo mods, catless downpipes/exhaust, oil blow-by cans that don't recirculate, etc... uh and running cars at twice the power levels they were initially intended to be from the manufacturer lol --- ie increased blow-by due to manifold pressures.

1JZ RX7 and 2JZ MKIII Supra were particularly bad --   well the Supra wasn't bad with the targa off of course...  but the FD was AWFUL for some reason I think because of the ventilated hood scoop allowing room for the JZ engine -- open wastegate dumps are dropping raw exhaust right near or in the engine bay (the sound dreams are made of, or perhaps, nightmares for some folks haha) ---- the exhaust gas would work its way into the cabin either thru the ventilation pick-ups or just sitting in stop-and-go traffic around town. My wife would complain she could smell exhaust ON ME and in her HAIR 1/2hr after getting out of the car lol!

Even on the GTR my discerning sniffer can detect a slight scent of exhaust -- i drove home 11 1/2hrs from Georgia when i bought the car and after getting home -- next day my clothing definitely had gas monkey odor on them lol.... hadn't done anything but drive the car home the day pmorningrior and hit the sack that night.

Just figure its the cost of admission when addicted to boost!  ;)
