I'm a total newbie to the forum and to the platform and this is my unintentional build thread.
I come from the S4 and M3 world and decided to upgrade to the GT-R. Both great cars with cool history attached to them but time for Godzilla.
I bought my 2010 FBO GTR right here from the forum and have had quite a crappy go at it. Sight unseen proved costly.
A few hundred miles into enjoying my car and I lost my water pump and thermostat.
Right after that fix a few hundred miles later I noticed I was getting low oil pressure and some not so great noises from the engine.
I posted on the forums here for some help when I started to see the issue and got some great replies from the folks here so I appreciate that!
Doug @ WGP quickly jumped in to help as well and gave me a call. Doug ripped the band-aid off and gave it to me straight.... So - i shipped the car to Doug to have him take a look at it with 1 of 2 scenarios.
Scenario 1 - Pray for the best, small fixes, get car back to me for another couple hundred miles before it breaks again
Scenario 2 - Confirm the fears, Upgrade, rationalize the spend and begin my unintentional build.
After some weird shipping problems (just a truck burning down and stuff) the car safely arrived at WGP.
Doug and the team went to work quickly and let's just say the only things I feel we are keeping are a seat belt and my air freshener.
Nothing about this car was good:
- Transmission had funky parts and serviced incorrectly
- Front Tires were fake Michelin's (which we enjoyed a good laugh at) and caused me some ETS woes.
- Bolts missing everywhere -- just nightmares all over the place.
- Oh and the engine was shot - if oil touched it then it needed replaced. Awesome.
- My recent WP and TSTAT service at Nissan could have been an issue (my oil pickup tube was clogged and my main seal spring was nesting in there)
Doug could always explain more or clarify but we call it a turd in a pretty bow.
Enough about the problems.. let's get to the build!!!!!
Doug has recommended a build that will net me in the area of 1000WHP and 800ish WTQ.
I'm going to ask Doug to provide a write-up of what we are doing since the build got a bit more complicated and my parts list doubled..
Thanks for all of the forum support and stay tuned!....
and Thank you to Doug @ WGP for helping me with this mess.
To be continued...
