I haven't been on here in a while, but I got prompted by a PM about a trans cooler. So, I thought I would let you know I have started my own track group in the Northeast and based it on my two vehicles: 2017 GTR track car and 2018 Ford Raptor to come up with the name Dynosaur Motorpsports, LLC. I give Rachel Eaton of Eaton Motorsports credit for coming up with the name.
Prior to the pandemic, I had planned on starting this LLC to support my hobby as many people do. I was also planning on doing a lot of time trials in 2020. I was also looking into running track days for a Facebook group called Apex Automotor where I am a moderator.
All of this went to the back burner when Covid-19 hit and effected my business. I had to shut down for two months, and my loses were around 60-70k. (I own a martial arts school. I teach mostly karate, but I have a back ground in other martial arts as well)
Last year, I was the chief instructor for MassBMW who held Tracktoberfest at Palmer Speedway in MA. This event was a huge success, and I helped a lot with the structure due to this being a Facebook group that simply wanted their own track day.
This year, I have been going steadily to the track, and my car has been running great. I also got to work with my Pro Coach at Watkins Glen. We ran into many issues with crashes. So, I did not break into the sub two minutes I had hoped for, but I will get it next year.
Frustrated but determined, I signed up for an event at Thompson Speedway 3 days later and on my R7's 12th heat cycle I put down one of the fastest laps ever. I believe there are only two production cars ahead of me: A C6 Z06 & some Lamborghini. You can see me in shock at the end of this video when I saw my laptimer.
Then, I took part in an event at Club Motorsports in NH. I became an instrumental player again in the set up of the event when they faced challenges with 46 novice entries. I came up with the solution, rotation and schedule that took part that day. The chef instructor resigned at the end of the day, and said that I should be the new chief instructor.... that got me to thinking.
After pondering it for about a week, I decided to start my own track group. I set up my LLC, negotiated the terms with Palmer Speedway and just yesterday finished setting up my profile and event with Motorsportsreg (which was an awesome experience).
On October 11th, the adventure begins. http://msreg.com/Dynosaur
We will be utilizing rules similar to Hooked on Driving (which is my preferred track group to run with). We will have Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Super Advanced. These groups will be similar to A,B,C & D with HOD as mentioned. I will also expect people to keep pace with the rest of the group, following passing flags and monitor closely the flow of the group.
I, like many of you, have gotten very frustrated with people who red mist, don't belong in certain run groups and those who ignore th passing flag. This group will have heavily vetted Intermediate, Advanced drivers and Instructors. We will also use a 2:2 team approach to coaching. I believe I am the first to do this. Two students & two instructors will work as a team throughout the day. Undoubtedly, this will lead to a better coaching and learning experience while building even stronger relationships.
In the Northeast, we have lots of great track groups, but we do not have HOD or Chintrackdays. So, I wanted to bring something to the area (Palmer Speedway, NHMS, Club Motorsports, Thompson Speedway and eventually more tracks) where these groups are not found.
I have a Facebook page for anyone who is interested: https://www.facebook...saurmotorsports
I have also switched to a new YouTube channel: https://www.youtube....w_as=subscriber
