Making this post because it's something that I've questioned for years. I always hear that the absolute worst drivers are BMW drivers for various reason, be it they drive fast, have little respect for others on the road, etc. However, although a little true, I mostly see BMW drivers behaving normally. Really the car owners that I see that are always a nuisance are Altima owners. For years I've seen them try to race people on the road, constantly tail me or others trying to egg them on, have almost no respect for traffic laws, behave erratically on the road, etc. Not sure why no one has called this out over the many years that the Altima has been on the market.

Here is another way to look at your question-

https://smartasset.c...st-drivers-2019

The states with the worst drivers are for a reason (as described in the article).

Perhaps the BMW drivers are easily found in California. Part of it might be the driving culture, what is common acceptible for the area. People in congested areas have to deal with traffic and urban lives are filled with deadlines and rushing around. Do those things day in and day out you may develop a sense of getting only from one thing to another without much consideration for the journey or the process.

I don't see enough BMW drivers to have an opinion of them.  What I see are low HP imports with huge "Wings" on the back...they either try to race or smile with a thumbs up to me.  I just smile back and wave either way.

I commute through two of those areas on a regular basis and know what you mean. However, I'm mostly stating that it's not BMW drivers that I'm seeing an issue with, it's Altima drivers.

I could understand that it may be an issue with traffic, but being someone who is in those areas daily, I would expect to see the same thing with almost any driver. I'm specifically mentioning Altima drivers as this is something that I've just noticed over many years.

Cannot believe Orlando is not on the list. It probably does not take into account rental cars. Nothing like a six lane exit from the far left lane in a minivan on two wheels - I see that once a say when down there. I drive the GTR pretty slow - middle lane just trolling for bikes or cars at 55mph and bumping Hair Nation ;)

NOT shocking that three of the cities are in Mass, hence the term "massholes." It is honestly ridiculous how bad it is there. People are road-raging right and left. I loathe public transit but will choose to take the shuttle to Logan when I need to fly in or out for this reason.

Long story short...

Went into the city one time and yes you guessed it, on the Anthony Henday Motorway along comes a M3 that apparently wanted to play.

Well lets just say he didnt get to play with Gdzilla for very long, and ended up taking an exit after running out of wind 😎

You can't blame BMW drivers for their behavior - my understanding is they don't actually install turn signals in those cars.  That being said, I've noticed that a lot of them have traded in their bimmers for Audis which are getting pretty bad.

Anyway, the answer is Prius drivers.  They're the worst.  The official pace car of the inexplicably slow moving traffic you're stuck in.

that's cuz they're constantly hypermiling and seeing how many MPG they can achieve. Often at our expense.

truth be told, back in 08 I had a Prius Touring, hypermiled a few times and almost fell asleep. Got over that real quick.

I loved beating 300+HP cars on the freeway cuz I know how to drive traffic. Had many muscle cars, JDM, wanna be's crash just trying to keep up. 100 ponies!

As someone who grew up in Maryland just outside of Southeast DC, and have lived and worked there a good part of my adult life, I'm not surprised to see DC and Alexandria included in this Worst Drivers article. Actually, though, they could have simply lumped the entire DC area together. You have so many government agencies there, as well as some company headquarters, and that means a concentration of Type A personalities. And most of those Type A personalities drive like a**holes, because of their sense of entitlement and belief other drivers are beneath them. And the rest of the drivers that behave badly on the road is because of the treatment they are subjected to, day in, and day out, from these Type A loose cannons.
