Hey guys, I am im the process of getting my setup redone after an engine failure back in November. My old setup was a stock crank built 3.8l with hks gt1000s making 1090/900. The cylinder detonated after one of my id2000s stop firing completely and trashed the engine.

So I dropped off the car to Jamo Power. They pulled the engine and sent it down to Lynch to see what was salvageable.

The new setup is: 3.8L
Oem block
Oem crank
Wiseco pistons
Kelford 231b cams
O ringed heads
Cometic head gaskets
Manley rods
Arp head and main studs
T1 billet flywheel
Id 1700s
Fore triple
Stock Intake manifold
Ams fmic and piping
BL1200x
BL 3.5 intakes
Shep 1k with drag packs and dss axles.
Ecutek tune by Visconti
Nothing crazy on this build. Looking to make 1200-1300 which should be easily obtainable.

The communication between jamo, lynch and myself has been amazing. Pics, texts, phone calls make this rebuild very comforting. Top notch guys for sure!!!
Especially since i always used to wrench on my own stuff but not having time anymore with work and a newborn.

Jamo is doing the install and going over the entire car top to bottom. Visconti will be tuning.

Car should be back together in a week or 2. Dyno results to follow

Sorry to hear about the failure. First time I've heard ID injectors fail.
The new engine looks great!

Thanks ill keep this updated.
After talking to a few people, the consensus is that id2000s are not good to use. I think because of the non stainless parts inside it along with running e85?!??If you search for failures you will be shocked at how many stories there are. Just sucks I am another one of those stories.😡

Jamo's the guy! Had Visconti tune mine as well, he did a great job

 

Keep this updated man, I'd like to do something similar in the future

Nice build man. Sorry to hear ID2000s failed and cause engine failure. I think with those injectors they need to be serviced and cleaned often if you use Ethanol

The build had about 7k miles on it. Visconti works closely with jamo and he is great at tuning on ecutek.

Sorry about the failure!  Looks like its in good hands though.  I love when a builder is transparent and takes the time to document things with pictures.  Some builders forget were like Mom's salivating over pictures of each others kids...

Sorry to hear, can say I’ve never had an issue with the ID 2000s but I send them out every year and hardly use the car. (Knock on wood) The only fun part of blowing it up is the rebuild lol. Best of luck and get a ton of pictures.
Cicio Performance billet Crank 4.1 w/ CP billet pistons, Zenith R turbos, Cicio wet sump oling upgrade, flex fuel, ETS mid, down pipe, race FMIC, STM titanium axle back, ID2000s, Shep One K with drop gears, DS Axles, Volk Saga 18 10/12 (MT ET Streets), Advan GT Premium 20 R888. 1450+ hp / 1210+ tq

Old setups : more AMS motors than anyone I know - Alpha 9 w/ AMS 3.8, GTX3582R Gen II w/ AMS 4.1 billet crank, GTX3582R Gen II w/ AMS 4.0 big bore billet crank and of course FBO E85.

Yes getting updates with pic and video makes the peocess that much better. I wanted to eventually upgrade turbos but that came a lil premature 🤦🏻‍♂️

were your heads salvageable? 

 

just curious on what parts you were able to reuse since i m kinda in the same situation :(

Heads were salvageable. The whole valve train was ok so that was all cleaned up, and back together.

What happened to your car?

stock motor on upgraded turbos ran out of life and shot a wrist pin out the side of the block.

 

Thing was burning a qt of oil after a day of racing or at the track lol 

 

tear down is at the end of next month so we'll see what she needs

Update ***** engine is in and running!!!! Jamo works fast!!!!!!
Just have to fab up some lower ic pipes and shes ready for the dyno.
