pretty good race despite a predictable final podium.  this is shaping up to be a competitive season between Merc and Red Bull.

What is this sprint qualifying?

Instead of the ‘standard’ 12 laps at speed per car, staggered ( so not racing among themselves) fastest times depict pole position.

Sprint qualifying they actually have a short race for about 100 km’s (or up to 1/2 hr)  the results of this race depicts pole position.

I think DRS should only activate if the driver behind is quicker over the previous two sectors - and then it should become available only for the following two sectors.

Also the driver in front should be made aware if the car behind is quicker and about to get DRS - then he could push harder in the sector to try and prevent the car behind getting that advantage.

If he can't prevent the driver behind getting DRS, then he'll know he has two sectors to defend his position.

That might make things more interesting as the drivers will have to make tactical decisions.

It's also getting really boring seeing people overtaken at the end of the longest straight because the car behind got within one second and activated DRS.

There are doors that they're afraid to go in, and they don't want us to go in there either, because if we go in we might learn something that they don't know. And that makes us a little out of their control.

Upcoming carnage lol.

That’s why we don’t see sprint qualifying in F1 very much to not at all.

Just food for thought here...

1) if the driver behind is quicker in the previous 2 sectors... then why should he need DRS right, think about it. If he’s that good (like Hamilton) drive without DRS lol

More races on won in the corners than in the straights.

2) the driver in front is fully aware. The DRS zone is clearly marked on the track. Driver in front is normally already at WOT either under his own accord or direction of his engineer to either push hard or back off to save on the tires etc (lots of factors come into play during the DRS zone)

3) they make tactical decisions on every corner (especially if the two drivers are right behind each other)

4) nobody said the lead car had to drive in a straight line...  :shiftdrive: A hard number to count would be, how many times has Hamilton been overtaken by DRS compared to his fellow comrades? A lot less.

This is why F1 can become really entertaining in less than one second.

Just my two cents.
