Wow, thats an awesome event. I hear running it is muchos dineros. What is the usual damage running an event like this. It is surely an event I would love to run someday, just need more seat time, only if my wife would go away and I could run every weekend :p [I seriously hope she never reads this]

BTW you run on one set of tires throughout the OLoA event???

Entry fee $2700
Tires depending on car $500 to $1200
Gas/Hotels/Food for event $1000 to 1200

Testing and travel to and from South Bend at your expense.

You are only allowed 1 set of tires for the event unless you have a road hazard, Coding tires does not apply. :irock:

Of course Track incidents, (rare), blown engines, (not as rare), and general mechanical issues can raise the cost.

Thanks guys, that seems reasonable. What exactly do you mean by "Testing and travel to & from south bend?"

Also for 7 nites, gas and food, $1000 seems cheap, in hotels alone, I can see 600-700$ being spent and gas on this puppy can get expensive to fill for the track, considering how much it drinks.

Hotels are not luxury items. I try to not spend more than $60 per night. Food is free at hotel in am and no more than 10 to 15 $ for the day per person. GT3 avg 24mpg, E46M3 avg 24mpg, GT2 avg 21mpg, E36M3 avg 27mpg. Your mileage may vary.

Yes we ate well the whole trip.

Some teams like KINGLEH are able to get by on shredded wheat, peanut butter and various snack bars.

tracks have db levels you can't pass? I don't think I'd pass any.... I have no cats, no resonators, no mufflers..... :/

Using the BMW connection to get on one of the 6 no limit sounds days/year.
All tentative, only reason I know about it is riding in the car w/ Brock for 2 days :)

Think its a 94db limit at Lime Rock.
Last time I got checked at Roebling I was 106.5db. oopps...

A stock 997GT3 will not pass sound @ Laguna Seca and an F430 also fails. Even with the BMW connection I would wonder as the Pro races and SCCA events would rule. Still it would be a neat track to run. When I took the GT3 to RR I didn't even try with the ByPass pipes. Will see next friday with JonK if the GT2 will pass @ RR.

I really want to go way WEST again. Nothing like a 1000 mile transit to Miller to separate the men from the boys. :irock:

Are you running again???

Peter

Another reason I moved out of the People's Republic of Khalifornia. :)

wills car is a similar set-up and has not been a problem with noise. You should be fine except the transit driving can get a bit tedious with noise canceling headphones.

what?...
I can't run wide open at Roebling.
LimeRock I'd probably break the sound meter. :)
106.5db

Most tracks don't have db limits.
Those that do you usually get a warning once or twice. Which One Lap is fine since your only on track for 2 sessions.

Transit driving w/o earplugs or headphones will wear on you more then the sleep deprivation.

Beavrun has a big sign when you drive in saying 93db sound. Gave me a scare in 08 with the GT3 and no mufflers. Never heard a peep from any sound nazi's.
