It looks more and more likely we have just started into a recession. I predict Nissan dealers currently sitting on their GT-R high horse will soon be forced to come back down to reality, just like home builders/owners have.

421 GT-R's sold in Sept.

1,052 sold so far.

So when was the first month of sales for the GTR? Are the monthly sales up or down compared to the 421? That would give an idea as to whether dealers will be loosening up or not.

I'd like to think that, but those dealers sure are prideful. Two near me are still over MSRP, one with a car sitting for a month now at $26k over MSRP and the other with a 2009 delivery $15k over MSRP.

people will still need vehicles!! We are transitioning into a brokerage service for luxury items, just purchased a Range Rover Sport and MB CLS for customers this week. I hear the used car business is growing for new car dealers.

People still need cars, but the credit crunch is hurting sales for both new and used vehicles.

I am in the car business, and I have been for a long time. Things are pretty bleak right now.

Well in our very near future we are seeing the banks require more down payment >2500, and seeing rates for those with average credit in the teens (650 score). We even had a bank call us back and tell us they are not going to finance the Escalade we had submitted on the app! She had to pick a car instead of an SUV! Incredible stuff.

Thats because owners at the Nissan dealers filled out bogus orders for "customers." They then sat on them and marked them up. Also Nissan thinks that a refundable deposit equals a car sale lol. There are lots still on the market.

More than 1,700 of the exotic 480-horsepower GT-R supercars, or approximately 70 percent of the first year allocation for the United States market, have already been spoken for since the announcement of a pre-sale ordering program last January.

I think they are more or less on target of their sales goals. 1,052 cars in 3 months, where the first month there were very few cars, starting July 7th.

I know a few Dodge dealers are hurting big time. A GM who I know well said it's desperate times right now. They really are hurting for sales. So bad they even have the A/C set at 82 lol. They used to keep it 75 in the middle of summer. Doing everything to cut back.

I think the news and everyone is avoiding saying the "R" word about our current economy.

Resplendent?

...but seriously we have been sliding down the "R" slope for a bit now, I think it's just finally starting to take hold in people's minds.
