Went back to the track again and believe we set *TWO* GT-R records today (explain in a moment.)

Keep in mind we haven't had a chance to tune the car at all since Friday when we ran 10.85. So today I was experimenting with shift points and working more on launches. All the runs today were done with launch control.

We can easily hit the 10s now (which is good). We had 4 passes in the 10s today.

Before I get to the 'record' stuff... I want to show this because I'm really proud of it...

NOTICE THE REACTION TIME...

I had a guy at the track (that's been drag racing for like 20 years) tell me that I need to frame it because I will most likely never pull off a 'triple zero' again.

Not bad for only having drag raced (ever) for about 2 months total. :irock:

Our MPH was down a bit today (again, we need to get on a dyno very soon to do a full tune) but we had some INCREDIBLE LAUNCHES.

Here's the slip from a new ET record pass (10.80) and notice the 60FT which Chuck believes is a GT-R record:

1.51! YEAH BABY. :irock:

We were playing with tire pressure and experimenting with launch points (when to shift out of 1st).

ANYONE should be able to look at some of this data and know that the GT-R is ONE AWESOME MACHINE. And we're just getting started learning what this bad boy can do.

And oh yeah.... I just have to say this...

THE GT-R HAS A WEAK TRANSMISSION MY ASS!

The way we hooked to pull the 1.51 60ft would have CRUSHED any weak transmission. The car held up like a CHAMP. There definitely has to be something to do with successive launches with temps too high or some other variable that caused those broken trannies. Either that or it was a defective manufacturing batch of gearboxes. Because my car clearly has a SOLID tranny.

Here's video of the 10.80 run (with that incredible 1.51 60ft). Sorry the video is so crappy. iMovie on the Mac apparently doesn't upload to YouTube with optimal compression. (I need to figure it out)

Very cool! You guys just keep raising the bar. It's interesting how the trap speed dropped almost 2.5 mph. Could this be due to lowering the tire pressure slowing it down on the top end?

Wow, another day, another record. Nice job John--hard to believe this car been stateside for such a small amount of time and now it's being seen consistently in the 10s. Probably a matter of time before many more GT-R are in the 10s, then the 9's.

hey guys (AHRacing & TurboJohn), have you done any weight reduction yet? may be a good way to grab a few more tenths. Great work, btw!

Not really. We've just been focused on getting more power of the car. We'll probably do that after we get the car running really well.

Then again, a little weight reduction is already happening, I guess... the wheels are a lot lighter than stock and the Amuse exhaust is a lot lighter. Probably add lightweight racing seats next that will cut some weight.

Incredible. It seems mid 10's wouldn't hold for another year as I predicted lol. These two fellow here might break it in a couple of weeks or less! Good lord.

I still just couldn't believe John has launch his car for over 100 times already with the GT570 kit fitted. Wow..... How many miles have you got on the car already John? And how many mission oil changes already? Are you using the WILLALL or the stock GTR green fluid? I am so tempted to try it.... (Still a chicken shit on launching the car)

By the way, those high-10/low-11 muscle cars don't particularly like lining up against the ole GT-R. ;-) They always get SHOCKED when it beats them. Most people pull up next to it and think it's like a 12 second car at best. :)

Lightning guy.... GMC Syclone/Typhoon guy here..

Fun on a Thursday night at Irwindale 1/8th mile here locally in LA. The crowd gets into it. Domestic vs imports. Especially when some import on a street tire, spanks up on a domestic on a tire.

I have import and domestic cars, but its still fun to hear the reactions.

Maybe a little but probably not 4+ mph. We ran the lower traps with the current setup before we lowered the tire pressure at all.

Just wanted to add something...

When I say we haven't "tuned" this car I don't mean to say we are 'flying blind.' We are datalogging and managing AFR to make sure we don't endanger the engine (as best we can). We just don't have perfected timing maps, etc. yet. We'll get there soon. :)
