http://www.amsperfor...ntercooler.html

The AMS Nissan R35 GT-R Front Mount Intercooler is one of the best performing intercooler upgrades you can buy and has the 9 second time slips to back it up. This is the same durable, race proven front mount intercooler used in our world record setting SR850 package. This direct bolt-on intercooler has over 30% more internal flow area than its stock counterpart, works with stock piping and does not require any cutting or trimming! This intercooler bolts on so nice and clean you would swear it was an OEM Nissan piece!!

The AMS Intercooler features cast aluminum end tanks for added durability with extremely smooth features and geometry. Designed by our engineering team using Solidworks (3D CAD software) these A356 T6 Alloy Aluminum end tanks have improved flow over sheet metal end tanks and include integrated OEM location mounting brackets for ease of installation. Custom molded silicone couplers are included to optimize airflow volume and velocity which feed the 3” inlet and outlet ports.

AMS goes beyond our competition to ensure quality; each AMS Intercooler is hand TIG welded in a jig for a perfect fit and pressure tested to 50 psi to ensure maximum performance.
We tested many intercooler cores to find the best performing unit available. Over the past 9 years AMS has tested just about every core available to source the best manufacturer for our kits. The R35 GT-R intercooler is no exception as this core is manufactured by the same company used for our 1400HP drag cars and time attack race team.

Looks great. AMS intercoolers are top notch just like everything else they make. Had the big one on my evo and it worked great, I blocked it off once with plexiglass to try and make the intake temps go up(to test a theory) and they didn't even rise.

I cannot stress enough how GREAT this fits. We spent lot of time designing a unit that would allow for the best HP gain while retaining OEM like fitment. 3" inlet and outlets will also compliment our 3" IC piping kit to be released here shortly.

This is one of the best modifications you can do to your GT-R Especially if you are a track guy.

Eric,

I completely understand the benefits of an upgraded IC on modified cars putting out far more power than OEM, but why do you state "especially if you are a track guy". Do you mean simply the drag strip, or are you referring to a road course. If a road course, are you implying that the upgraded IC will keep engine temps down, even on a little modified car? Just trying to understand your statement a little better.

TIA,
Bish

On a track you are running boost alot.. he means road course i believe. You will be in 3rd - 5th most of the time generating lots of boost and heat. Intercoolers help those stock turbos hot air charge get cooled down far more then the stock cores. Anyone running cobb or haltech pushing say more then 15psi on a road course circuit will run into problems with temps getting out of control inside the cylinder chambers and motors will blow. This happened to several cars i know of.

i have heard of at least two.

Is there any temp data for these? if not do you plan to? i ask because im making a database with that information required in it.

+1 on what Eric said about road racing guys will want this....

Unlike drag racing, your in and out of gears constantly and as soon as your out of the turn your @ WOT (wide-open throttle)

At the drag strip, your beating on your car for seconds..... road racing- MINUTES

Your intake temps are going to get HOT... REAL hot especially with factory piping and a core. I think underpressure can attest to how high of intake temps he saw during his One Lap events..... You and your car are going to want a FMIC.

For the rest of us who drive on the street/ drag race... we too want cooler temps as well. Lower intake tempatures = faster car :-)

What kind of WHP increase will this intercooler be capable of?

we saw roughly 15-20 whp on franks White GT-R with this core. Again though you do not put on a FMIC for HP gain but rather to keep HP from being lost. A good FMIC when functioning properly will help maintain CONSISTENT and REPEATABLE horsepower despite driving conditions.
