Tym, Neil, and the SPI team took my car to a rental today to see how the setup likes the strip and also to gather some critical data for next time. Unfortunately, the track was prepped very badly (basically unprepped) which provided a very greasy and very dangerous surface once boost came on. Apparently it was so bad that a bunch of other cars were peddling after the 1/8th to keep from wrecking.

Tym got two back to back runs in, and then decided it was too slick to continue. DA was around 2,900 feet. First pass off the trailer netted the following:

60': 1.54
330': 4.04
1/8th mile E.T.: 5.99
1/8th mile MPH: 128
1/4 Mile E.T.: 9.04
1/4 mile MPH: 161.2

He then hot-lapped the car, ran a time slower than this one, and decided to bring her home to for safety and to make some adjustments. The MPH is indicative of the massive amount of wheelspin the car was still seeing even half-way down the track. Next up are some more adjustments based on today's data, and then we'll run her on a well-prepped track to see how things turn out.

Overall I'm extremely happy. First time on a dragstrip with a brand-new, untested setup...and the car ran great, nothing broke, and a lot of important information was garnered. More to follow...

That is an amazing 60ft time ! 1.54 ! Are you guys launching with LC2?

Trap speed seems a little low for the power , but like you said too much wheel spin will hurt those trap speeds

Would be interesting to see the 60-130 as you were hitting 128 in the 1/8

what tire setup are you guys running to get that 1.54 with a slippery track ? any boost off the line? sorry for all the questions but that is an impressive 5.99 in the 1/8!

MT ET Streets. From personal experience I can tell you that the M&Hs are stickier (I've used both). But it launches before full boost, so traction isn't an issue until after 60 feet. We'll try to see if the MTs hook on a well-prepped track before considering other tire options.

I think the R888s will hook better on asphalt than the MTs were hooking on this dragstrip. LOL...

Haha! Hey team Switzer can claim the quickest 60ft and 1/8th mile on a GT-R to date! We all know that dragging these cars have been a painfully long process for all shops and customers involved. You are almost getting there Scott. Don't fret.

You must be thrilled Scott! 9.04 straight off the trailer tells you how well Tym prepares once he finds the time to close the shop and get to the track. It obviously took him longer than he hoped to get the custom trans pieces and launch control tuning complete....but I'm sure you agree the wait was worth it.

The track was only prepped for two pro mod cars doing 330 testing....so the MPH will come with a better track and some high gear tuning. He had never been out of 3rd except on the dyno.....:biggrin:
