Just hit 12,000 Miles and I'm due for an Oil Change, my local Nissan Dealer quoted me 130$ for the GT-R. Is this too steep? Would i be better off buying the oil from the nismo shop and taking it to them? They said its about an hour of labor..

Also i have read that at 12,000 Miles or 12 Months i should be getting a POS, should i bring this up to them or should they already know? I believe its a free alignment

Get a free alignment and tell them you want street or track. $130 is cheap, if you buy your own oil at walmart and a filter, it is $40's. I believe it is yearly, not milage dependent on the pos.

May I know which dealer quote you $130 for oil change? That sounds like a pretty good rate.

The oil change for my daily (2011 Maxima) is like $100 (I put the good oil in it as it is recommended and oil is cheaper than an engine).

I work for Nissan the 0W-40 mobile 1 was $56.06 and the filter was $5.64 and $20 to change it.

All in all, $130 is reasonable if they do it right. Including oil and filter, sure. That means they're about $80/hour (in the ballpark), at $7 per quart on the oil (in the ballpark), and reasonable for filter and "shop charge".

Yes. Not as easy as just any old car, but if you're an experienced mechanic, not so hard either.

Changing oil isn't bad.

Usually, people get tripped up on the jacking part. You'll need a fairly low jack. And you'll need a mini ramp just to get the jack under it (in most cases). Now that I think about it, I've got quite the little investment going here:

1. Mini ramps (home made from home depot): $20
2. Jack (2000 lb.): $250?
3. 2 Reverse logic jack points: $80
4. 2 Esco Jack stands: $160
5. Quick release oil valve: $30 (not necessary... just easier).
6. Oil catch can: $8

Some of this I needed anyways just to be able to change tires for track. But if I was only doing it to save money on oil changes, you've really got to place a large value on pride of doing it yourself.

Hmm 78$ is dirt cheap, i mean the oil itself is like 40-45$? i wish i could get that price haha
