1k POS: Control Arm replacement

Last year around late November, just before winter, I took the car in for the 1k POS. Afterward the adjustment, the tech told me that alignment couldn't be done b/c he could only adjust so much that it's still a tad bit off. He showed me the sheet, but I don't remember if I got a copy. Basically, he said a new control arm will be ordered and replaced with no charge to complete the 1k POS. Then, winter hit so I couldn't bring in the car. Now, I just made an appointment to re-order the part and complete the service this week, along with an oil change. I just wonder if this is a very rare case? Thanks for an input.

Come to think of it, I really don't drive the car much...a little over 2 years and I have 1200 miles...

Haven't seen this on the forum before. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Suspect that some "stored" owners don't come on here much. So it could have happened, and we wouldn't know.

Thanks. It's weird that my 1st visit for a simple routine service, something has to be replaced already...
Yea I haven't heard any cases of having a bad control arm...you have a 2010 right?
Nope, it's a 2009. The tech said it really isn't bad per se, it would be acceptable to further adjust if it's any other Nissan, he said. It's the GT-R that he must follow the rule, and it states that he can do only so little before a a new control arm is needed.
Do you know what the limit is before they change the control arm as per Gtr guidelines?
I believed he showed me the print out before, although I don't remember anymore. I wonder if I can ask for it again before they change it tomorrow. Appointment is rescheduled since wrong part was ordered 2 weeks ago.
So this just happened I'm guessing shipped from Nissan? You or someone didn't hit a curb?
I asked as mine was off. If it is off past the allowable limit then I want to take it back to get it replaced as I just had the 1000 mile POS done.
Thanks
What are you guys talking about? NOB question... What do I need to know about my alignment?
No accident, I would say happened when the car was manufactured. If it hit anything, there would be traces on tires/wheels/surroundings. Besides, I am the only person driving the car since delivery. Due to work I have to re-schedule again for Friday. I will ask on Fri to see if they have the previous print out specs. I don't think they want to spend money for parts/labor unless it's necessary, no? Car drives fine for me (doesn't pull to one side) except for a few torque steer from time to time.

Anyone knows the limit so I can compare on Friday?
thats not bad since i got my 2012 i had both headlight replaced because of a water in the headlight. driver side rear exhaust trim replaced because of deform.
Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Maybe there's some disadvantages, after all, for the mostly-hand-made vehicle?
Just got back from the CA replacement service, and I kind of having mix feeling about the whole thing...partly not on the actual replacement.

I brought the car in in spotless condition, but when the job's done it's dirty. I asked them to just rinse it, but they started to wipe down with some unknown cloth :/ I had to tell them to stop. Wheel wells are very dirty, which I ended up taking it to DIY high pressure the heck out of them. I also noticed the driver side inside silver trim handle have some scratches...they couldn't see but I am very picky so it bothers me. The passenger side tweeter piece (plastic cover) got some water on it and it doesn't seem to dry up (almost like water got it). I told them if the tweeter is blown they will have to replace it. The problem to me is: I bring in the car for them to service, not to mess it up.

Worst yet, I started driving the car home for like 5 min, and noticed the steering wheel is off center?! I had to drive back and have it fixed. I am surprised that the tech did not notice it, since it's like at least 5 degrees off!

Here a question to MY09 experts: I know there are lots of noises for our GT-R, but now I noticed there are some noises possibly from rear that resembling metal to metal clunking noise when going to small uneven roads...actual bumps are okay since the vibration feels more solid. It's the occasion hollow clunking noise that puzzles me. I don't know if it's my paranoid due to the not-so-satisfied experience... anyone can input? Does alignment on the rear required anything taken off? I called and asked but was told it's bolts that needed turn, so nothing was taken off.

Don't get me wrong, everyone was very polite about the whole thing and said if I want the tweeter piece and trim replaced, they will do it at no charge...but I just dislike having things taken apart...it just won't be the same afterward...sigh.

Now I will try clean up the car and check again if they screwed up anything cosmetically...sadly, there's a MY12 blue GT-R in the showroom and after this service I really have no desire to check it out...I feel like 'every time' the car goes in for service, it will spell trouble. The only way to do it right is to do it yourself. Sometimes, I wonder if I should just sell the car and get something cheap so I wouldn't have all these headache.

1200 in 2 years. wow.
Actually I drove this car way more than my previous one - STi. When that was sold after 5 years of ownership, the car only had about 2500 miles on it.
