Has anyone retrofitted the LED 3rd brake light in the lower rear diffuser? I cannot tell if I would need to replace the entire rear diffuser to add the light.

its not a third brake light but a rear fog - though you could get clever and wire it inline with your brake lights i suppose

our Aus spec has them and tbh they look ridiculously ghey

I think, only the piece that is connected with the fog light should be replaced, and of course you have to buy the fog light as a separate component.

because the US spec piece does not has a place to mount the fog light, thats why you have to buy the required peice, you can buy it in middle east, or in UK or in japan market, because in these locations they sell gtrs with fog lights.

It is highly appreciated if someone corrects me from being wrong.

I am planning to make a new thread ,,, which is about how to convert a US spec GTR COMPLETELY into a JAPANESE or UK spec GTR. which means making the US gtr has the following points:-

1- The front LEDS is turned ON while the headlights are ON (at night) ( I think this problem is solved by the amazing alexdavis, thanks alexd your AWSOME) although this problem is solved, but the solution should also be included in the thread that I am planning to create.

2- Rear Fog LED that can be turned ON and OFF whenever the driver decides (SWITCH) + this fog light should be connected to the brake's light, and turned ON while you hit the brakes and OFF when you remove your foot from the brakes.

The two options above, can be implemented if we know exactly how the UK,JP specs oprerate.

we need a help from UK, middle-east and Japabese guys who own a 2012 GTR. we need them to explain to us how the fog LED/ front LED operate and where are the controls in the interior

thanks

It is considered as a third brake light, it can be turn ON and OFF with the brake lights,

It is also considered as a fog light that the driver can turn it ON continuously and has nothing to do with the brake lights.

so you can use this fog light in two options. the driver decides it ....

all this information that Ive learned is from youtube videos. so please if someone has a 2012 GTR with fog lights please explain for us how they work ^^

thanks

I don't find it ghey at all, exactly the opposite... I think the GT-R looks much better with it (especially if you want to highlight black & red theme)

And it is only a fog light, there aren't any other options. A really nice feature of it though is if somebody is driving behind you on high beams... it works like a charm!! From experience, when I turn it on, every driver who has been driving behind me on highs had immediately switched them off

I agree, I've used smoked tint to blend the light with the carbon diffuser. But its always fun to know you can turn the light stalk and keep blinking at the car behind you =]

In the older (2002ish) subaru STi's and WRX's, the euro models came with a rear wiper arm on the back window. If you could import the glass, the motor, the arm and the new turnsignal switch, almost all the wiring was already there. I bet that turnsignal headlight switch already has all the wiring in the car...you just need to find where it would run from the back of the car. I love the idea of this mod. I want to import these parts, it can't be that hard.

How much would the whole diffuser be shipped from Japan or Europe ? Maybe thats a better option as I am guessing it will come complete with all the hardware needed and all that will be left is to wire it ?
