The long awaited and refreshed 2017 GTR has finally broken cover for the first time in over a year. It was recently spotted testing here in the US. The 2017 features all new front and rear fascias new side skirts and wheels. The front bumper features Nissan's trademark "V-Motion" grill bringing some brand identity and family conformity to the GTR. The rear end features sharper outside bodylines similar to what was seen on the GTR NISMO. The front bumper features an overall smoother look ditching the double stacked canard look around the DRL area of 2012+ . The now integrated lower lip appears to protrude forward giving the front a slightly more aggressive look.

The interior is also said to have undergone a modernization to give it a more upscale feel. The GTR was unveiled almost a decade ago at the 2007 Tokyo Motor show and went through a similar facelift for the 2012 model. The reason for this 2nd facelift and refresh is said to be because of the delayed all new R36. Reports are that the Hybrid R36 might not make its debut until 2020, so it appears Nissan has decided to double down on the R35 giving it another round significant changes to stretch out the model life even further. There is no known info on performance changes when it comes to horsepower increase but latest info indicates the emphasis again is on a modernization of the aging platform focusing on aesthetics and a continued maturation the GT aspect of the car.

As for the R aspect, no word on what this means for the NISMO version of the car but it is expected to adopt the interior improvements of the 2017 model year and more than likely a new front bumper that will allow it to also feature the new V motion theme
