We have been too busy to really get to the track much this year but with the winter approaching it was now or never. With the help of Switzer Performance my car was converted back to the stock ecu for some testing on lc4 vdc off to learn how it affects clutch life at higher power levels and after a few tunes it was ready to hit the track.

The car is completely full weight and nothing was removed for the track.

Oem dunlop 7010 all seasons at full pressure.

Ams alpha 9 kit on e85

Sheptrans built engine with head games heads and kelford cams.

Track prep was horrible in the street tire lane but still managed to run 9's on most passes.( nearly lost it on one pass due to a car putting oil down before me). At the end of the day they opened up the other lane so I jumped over for a few runs

First pass in the prepped lane the car bogged which shocked me and then hit the throttle cut on the 1-2

1.626

6.43
114.45

9.77
148.11

The track rental was just about over so I just hot lapped the car and the car bogged again and I hit the same throttle cut (It needs raised yet )

1.704

6.51
114.17

9.84
149.08

Basically lc4 is not launching hard enough when it gets traction which others have experienced as well with upgraded turbos. If we had more time I think we can do a few things to get it out of the hole better. LC1 would have helped but the goal is to work on lc4 at this time as it is much easier on driveline parts.

I would like to see it get into the 50's or low 60's on the stock wheel and tire combo before getting a set of dedicated track wheels.

Thanks for reading

Sorry Sam, you were the first person I thought of when I saw the mph
. I really think it will do 150+ if it is pushed harder,it is still on the rich side. I never even popped the hood all day

What does yours bog too? Mine hit 20xx !!!

Track is called thompson raceway. Not the nicest track but they are no cage friendly.

were you in manuel or Auto?

do you have the first gear full boost? when Chris tuned my car on full boost in first .. it blows the MT's at 5800rpms and bangs the limiter..

my LC4 Vdc off drops to 1900rpms.. weak..

I had 4 maps to choose from for boost ramp in. If I recal this was in the middle. I was running low boost in the first few gears on the street tire lane.

The car was not dynoed with the current tune.

The kelford cam is a 272 cam with custom lift. They were purchased through head games.

Using the lc4 vdc off and the Switzer reflashed ecu I was able to get to 4500 which is the same as lc1. After studying the logs it looks like lc1 just simply hits harder which allows the tires to spin more and carry it through the time where it bogs. Lc4 hits the tires then slides the clutch out which is better for traction but with the weight of the vehicle and larger cams and turbos it cannot pull through on a dead hook.

Shep; when you say lc4 "slides the clutch"...what is that doing to the promax? I know the promax doesn't like to be slipped. Any data on that yet?

Thanks ~ Goush.

it probably just gradually increases line pressure instead of just 0-100% kind of deal .. i don't know for a fact but thats just my guess

We pulled the trans back out to check clutch wear and it looks great so far. The next step will be to come out with more power to see how it reacts. As with any of this beta software extreme care should be used as you are correct, one bad launch will kill the plates.

Well I'm happy to let you do the Beta testing with LC4 and Promax. Very interested in hearing what the final verdict is. In the meantime I'll be sure to NOT launch my car. Please keep us posted.

And thanks for doing all this testing. Inconvenient as hell for me to burn up a clutch!
