So I spoke to the original owner from the thread here:

Since then the car racked up around 30k miles but the 2nd owner added a 2.5 shep transmission that totaled about 20k.

Is this car worth $85k + tax? I saw it in person. VERY clean, lines are straight as an arrow. Entire front is PPF. Interior is still in good shape. Could use a detail though. Brakes are new, rotors been cut but they switch back to the OEM wheels and tires which are around 50% life.

I really want to pull the trigger, but just want to make sure I am getting a fair deal. Thanks all and hope to be a member of the family soon!

So I spoke to Nissan. Problem is there is a plate that covers the bottom of the car. So They will have to remove it and they said they may have it for the entire day. Would cost around $395. is this typical? Also ,the place selling wants me to leave a deposit to get the PPI done. Does this sound normal?

The ad you linked is from 3 years ago, what does it look like now?...jmho sometimes you just go with your gut...rebuilt tranny from shep is a major plus...PPI is a no brainer when buying a used performance car and dropping this much coin...Find another Nissan Dealer, if there answer is "we have to remove the entire lower panels" no shit its a GT-R... just sounds lazy to me and they would most likely f it up..Happy Hunting...full disclosure I have zero first hand knowledge on buying a used performance car.

It looks very clean. Straight lines, no major road rash aside from your normal wear and tear which they said they will clean up for me. The Shep 2.5 was about 19k back in 2023 according to the receipt he had. Nissan has a GTR tech who will look at it and remove the panels etc. Will cost $395.

I would say cover all your ground as much as you can before getting this or anything. You have to keep in mind that majority drive this car hard or a gt3 or other cars in this category.

Another thing that kind of made me just question is why new trans 2.5 , did something major happen that resulted to that.
I think it was mainly to support the power since the car had a stock trans from the OG owner. But either way, it is a 2 year old 2.5 shep..would assume it has all fresh seals etc. I think for the $395 it just makes sense to do the PPI and the Nissan manager told me this is like his top guy and he works on GTRs

if a Nissan dealer is all you have close to you I guess that would do but it would have to be someone that is either a GTR tech or really knows the car and what to look for. otherwise a dealer is a waste. if you can find a shop that works on GTR that would be the best

EDIT: just saw you said GTR tech. I would rather a shop look at it but if thats all you have around you...

I mean thats pretty much what they are going for. 38k miles, looks like some good work done to it. as long as inspection holds up, no rust, fluids clean and such I would say thats a fine price.
youre never going to know how a car was fully treated so waiting for another one would only be if you wanted certain things done or not done, or color, spec etc

Yeah my .02 on GT-R certified dealers - anything beyond routine maintenance is beyond them. Luckily I have a local shop that runs 1200HP GT-Rs - the GT-R techs literally call him or have him come to them to ask questions about the car🤷🏼‍♂️

Do you think it is not worth it to take it to Nissan for a PPI? The guy I am buying the car from is not just auto sales but they are also a mechanic. He says I can do the PPI but honestly it is a waste as they already went over the car. He was even willing to put it up on a lift to show me everything but I am not even remotely close to knowing anything about a GTR.

In your case it’s probably a waste to take it to the dealer but I WOULD take it to a shop that does reputable performance work. Dealer
Won’t be able to tell you things a good pro shop can. With a Shep trans it’s likely the car was modded then returned to stock. A GT-R specialist can help determine that better than a dealer tech.

A regular Nissan dealer wouldn't even know what a "shep" is. The GTR "certified" tech drives home in his minivan and watches baseball every night. They get "certified" by taking a short class and getting a box full of gtr specific literature to take home.

All in all, the car looks to be in good condition cosmetically. Looks like the rf fender and hood were painted at one point. The vehicle is tuned so I could not read anything from the ECU. The vehicle does have other modifications. The catalytic converters have been removed and replaced with a larger diameter mid pipe. One of the two mass air meters was bypassed , most likely due to the tune on the car. The blow off valves from the turbos are also open. The vehicle will not pass NJ state emissions inspection in this condition. I cannot give any information about drivability as we were not authorized to drive it as per the seller. The only leak I could detect was the LF outer axle boot crackedGTR3.mp4 and starting to leak grease. Other than that, I could not see any leaks from the driveline. One of the under shields is cracked at a mounting point but is secure. I attached some pics and videos. Please let me know if you can see what sent. Good luck with the purchase and enjoy!

They want me to cover the cost of the boot and Labor which is around $500. Should I even bother at this point?
