Audio Off - Can't turn it on?

Hi all, this is my first post so feel a bit guilty about immediately asking for help but I have read many posts now looking for an answer to my problem but can't quite find the information I am looking for. I am not a GTR expert having only just purchases mine but can offer a wealth of knowledge on Audi R8's VW Camper type 1 and 2 and anything to do with computers.... pretty much! So, here is my problem which sounds quite simple but I don't think it is.

On the display it says "Audio Off'.. So I thought simply click the audio on/off button. When I press this I get a bleep as expected but it doesn't turn the audio system on and it still says "Audio Off". I pushed a cd into the slot to see if it kicked into life.... it didn't so I've lost one of my favourite CD's into the system just to make me feel even worse. I have read a lot of posts on here about audio issues with the R35's but none talk about the "Audio Off" message. I have checked the fuses in the drivers side footwell and they were all good. I have read disconnecting the battery for 2 hours could reset things but sounds a bit dodgy to me... maybe not. I was going to just get a new aftermarket unit fitted but everywhere I have been have said it wouldn't fit, so apart from paying circa£5K for a replacement I don't know what to try.

Does anybody have any suggestions? I think my problem is different to others I have read. Some people are saying they just don't get any sounds but haven't mentioned the fact that the display unit shows "Audio Off". I am going to give it a few days to see if I get any useful tips off here and then if not next weekend I will get my own screw drivers out and attack the car myself. How difficult can it be! Thanks in advance to those who read this and especially those who provide advice, commiseration's etc!

My GTR is featured in the December 2013 edition of the Banzai magazine if you want to take a look. Full Carbon Fibre GT1 Widebody conversion (plus quite a bit more - build cost alone was £120K). The only one in the EU apparently. Very light and very quick car ..... rubbish stereo! :)

That should be replaced under warranty right? My 09 already had the head unit replaced when I got it but I know they extended the warranty to 2014 on them.

Fuses would be my next guess but you already checked that. Maybe others with more experience would know.
Thanks Shygar, I will give the fuses another check, I haven't check the fuses by the battery yet. Good luck.
Mine just did this today, same not fuses. Where is the main audio control unit ? Is it the DVD player part ? Or is it under one of the seats? I haven't don't battery pull yet.
Take it to the dealer, should be covered under warrantee. There is a TSB on the A/V unit.
Take it to the dealer and have your tech scan the codes. They have a specific process to follow. It sounds like the MFD is bad, you will have sporadic issues with the most common being no sound.

The warranty Is extended to 6 years and 1,000,000 miles.

Last year I thought my speakers were blown, but they would test fine. This year after connecting my battery after my motor was out, the speakers sounded bad, the SAT button didn't work and the CD would not load, but ejected fine.

Then two weeks ago, disconnected battery to hardwire fuel pumps, reconnect and no sound. Took it to the dealer, came right up as three separate MFD codes, ordered it and installing this Friday.

Good luck.

Info below :

Nissan has extended their warranty on a few interior items in the Nissan GT-R. Originally these items were covered by a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, but that has been extended to 6 years, and unlimited mileage.

They have also extended the warranty on the audio system out to 6 years.
