Hi all, this is my first post so feel a bit guilty about immediately asking for help but I have read many posts now looking for an answer to my problem but can't quite find the information I am looking for. I am not a GTR expert having only just purchases mine but can offer a wealth of knowledge on Audi R8's VW Camper type 1 and 2 and anything to do with computers.... pretty much! So, here is my problem which sounds quite simple but I don't think it is.
On the display it says "Audio Off'.. So I thought simply click the audio on/off button. When I press this I get a bleep as expected but it doesn't turn the audio system on and it still says "Audio Off". I pushed a cd into the slot to see if it kicked into life.... it didn't so I've lost one of my favourite CD's into the system just to make me feel even worse. I have read a lot of posts on here about audio issues with the R35's but none talk about the "Audio Off" message. I have checked the fuses in the drivers side footwell and they were all good. I have read disconnecting the battery for 2 hours could reset things but sounds a bit dodgy to me... maybe not. I was going to just get a new aftermarket unit fitted but everywhere I have been have said it wouldn't fit, so apart from paying circa£5K for a replacement I don't know what to try.
Does anybody have any suggestions? I think my problem is different to others I have read. Some people are saying they just don't get any sounds but haven't mentioned the fact that the display unit shows "Audio Off". I am going to give it a few days to see if I get any useful tips off here and then if not next weekend I will get my own screw drivers out and attack the car myself. How difficult can it be! Thanks in advance to those who read this and especially those who provide advice, commiseration's etc!
My GTR is featured in the December 2013 edition of the Banzai magazine if you want to take a look. Full Carbon Fibre GT1 Widebody conversion (plus quite a bit more - build cost alone was £120K). The only one in the EU apparently. Very light and very quick car ..... rubbish stereo!
