Best place to get an AMS carbon hood?

I'm close to finally pulling the trigger on a carbon hood for my car so I was wondering - is it best to order from AMS directly or is it possible to get a better deal from one of the fine vendors we have on here? Never bought a carbon part this large and expensive before so I thought I'd ask.

Oh, and can anyone point me to some pics of 2x2 vs 4x4 gloss weave? The pics on AMS's site show gloss 4x4 and matte 2x2 so I can't say that I truly appreciate the difference based on that. Is there a difference between the two weaves other than appearance?

FATNSLO has our 2x2 Gloss weave on his car. Maybe he can snap some pics for you

Regarding the hood I think most dealers sell our products at MSRP like we do.

Okay thanks. I was leaning toward getting it from you guys directly but you can't blame a guy for trying to save some money in this economy now can you lol?

So from your reply I take it there is only an aesthetic difference between the weaves? If that's the case I plan on getting the 2x2 because I want to get a trunk later on and maybe the roof if budget allows so I'd rather have the weaves match.

Also, how long from ordering does it normally take to get the part?

All of our carbon parts are built to order because of the many weave and finish options. Typically the product ships around 4 weeks after the time of order.

Okay then. I'll probably go ahead and place my order by tomorrow.

You guys aren't related to a company called AMS Motorsports right? I ask because I was planning on getting a Hasemi carbon grille too and stumbled across their website while googling for info on the part.

No they are a completely unrelated shop.

The 2x2 weave would be the best to match the grill.

Sounds good. Thanks for the answer on what weave would best match the grill. I was gonna ask that.

I should be calling you guys tomorrow then for the order - I'd do it today but I have work and you guys will be closed on the East Coast before I get off.
