I never imagined it would be this quick. They really put together something amazing. The Ford GT500 better have stepped up it's game with the 2013 because this is seriously fast. If you look at table of ring times it shows some major domination. I suppose they are using production tires. Props to Chevy.

I'm the anti-Monaco... I *hate* everything about this car. And I can sum up the major bits with this concise bulleted list

- Looks - at first I thought it looked pretty good, then saw it parked next to a real camaro ('69 SS) and realized it is just a brick
- Performance - hamstringed by outdated layout/tech. Seriously, when is GM going to step up and do some AWD or something other than a car suitable mostly for drifting. The Vette and CTS-V are their only respectable efforts
- Lap time - With it's stat sheet I didn't expect it to be that *slow*.
- Did I mention it is fugly?

I'd take an lower powered Boss 302 mustang over this everyday of the week and run consistently faster lap times. Speaking of that, has anyone put a Boss 302 or LS edition on the 'Ring yet?

LOL McDuck. It's not THAT bad. It's a muscle car afterall. I think it's using a tweaked LSA from the CTS-V. I had one of those cars for a weekend (nice having friends in GM) and that motor is an animal! The exterior could use a little tweaking; side vents, front hood scoop area, but overall it's grown on me. Depending on the color, the car has a presence on the road. It's the instant torque of these things that are addictive. The BOSS is a purpose built track car. This is nothing like that.

yeah, I know... just stirring the pot. I'm sure there will be some nasty modded ZL1s rolling around in short order. I'm not a fan, but more because there are many other offerings I'd go after first.

I'd take the Boss on looks and compactness, but this is just mean:

Looks like a brick compared to its '60s counterpart...Ever seen an R35 parked next to an old Skyline? Or an E92 M3 next to a 2002. A lot cars nowadays are getting big and blocky.

This lap time is pretty insane considering the lack of tech, no AWD, pretty high weight (~3900 lbs est), and tires. And from what I'm hearing, it was done with a single lap.

Yeah, that was kind of my point earlier. Often I'll see pictures of a new take on an existing or formerly offered model and think, 'hey, that looks pretty cool'. But it often only lasts until I see one parked next to the car to which it is paying homage... at which point I mostly just think "BLEH".

What I found most impressive about that is the CEO is a Grand Am licensed competitor, and was one of the test drivers. It didn't say who put down the 7:41. I wonder if it was the CEO himself.

Last I heard, the target price is around $47k and comes with the magnetic ride suspension.

From the insideline link, it was a GM engineer (Aaron Link) who set the time. 40 laps over 3 days of testing, many of which were setting up basic parameters like the traction management system.

respectable numbers and aggressive looking car, but I still don't like it and would take a boss302 like mcduck.

-3900lbs that will definitely be felt (unlike the gtr which doesn't feel like it weighs that much thanks to AWD)
-Looks like a brick and the visibility out of a camaro is horrible, I test drove an SS and I felt like I was in an APC

this article states base price is 50k, so we are looking at ~65k for a premium.

That's very close to z06/gtr territory, I still don't see the niche they are trying to cover with this car... seems like the cts-V and a bunch of others already have that segment well covered.
