Can I adjust the damping enough on a set of kW v3s for drag racing or is it for road racing only?

They arent optimized for drag but you can set them up to let them work as well as possible in that situation. To maximize weight transfer to the rear tires you can take them to full soft. You'll have to play with it a bit to see what works best. You want the least amount of resistance to compression in the rear and the least amount of resistance to rebound up front. Just go full soft and see how it works and feels then tweak it in. It might feel "floaty" at the top end with that set up but I doubt it'd be that bad on street tires.

Often with KW setups you can swap the springs out with custom springs via Swift or Hypercoil. I actually have such a setup on my car with KW V.3 albeit it's not a R35. Concept is the same and in doing so you can set your rates up to have optimum weight transfer. If you're not circuit racing then you shouldn't be worried of using a spring that the shock/strut cannot handle. Often those that are a little serious carry various spring rates for varying conditions.

Just some food for thought

I am not 100% on the cost of custom springs for the GT-R since I have not done such a setup but for my civic I paid $75 a spring. Relatively inexpensive and I cannot imagine a slightly larger spring which would be used on the R35 to cost much more.

There may be some need for helper springs to properly fit, but this is something where a call to Hypercoil or Swift would be fitting.

Hey Tony,

I am not that sure but I do not believe so based on what I have seen. This was only my second week with SPE so I am still running around trying to learn as much as possible. Come Monday I will ask about it though and see what the deal with that is.
