Sorta OT but does anyone have a (huge) CF music library for sale? I'd beinterested in buying a huge library but not interested in building it myself

I've tried the following:
Opened the AV unit --> needed to open a lot more than just the front and side. You'll need to unplug the start button and need to remove the poke.

After unplugging 100 connectors at the back

it finally came loose.

After removing the side brackets with torx, the black top.

Removed some srews which were holding the Player and also the brownisch sticker at the front.

Finally the 40GB Toshiba!

This was still the 'easy' part. So then I connected the HD to on old windows laptop and it couldn't read (of course it's password blocked).
Then I downloaded Magic BootDisk with MHDD to unlock it.
MHDD say's it's unlocked, but I still can't read from it..... Tried it a couple of times.

Any tips?

Got it fixed.......my dump error. I set the Master Password instead of the user one . So in case someone accidently locks his hdd. The master Toshiba pass is 32 spaces.
First do unlock with MHDD and then dispwd.

So now I've got a fully Clonezilla image. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, but I'll try to mount it to a Linux system to browse through the content.
It would be awesome If someone with the 2013 European model can do the same so we can check the differences. And I'd probably could get the Euro maps working on the US HDD .

Oke, guys I'm in need of help. I've imaged the Disk and mounted it to my system. Now I only need someone to do the same on a new 2012/2013 system on a EURO model .

With that I can use that image and try to see if it works on this one. If that works we'll have a solution for all the US models in Europe.

All I can tell you about this is that they took the hard drive out of the 2014's and I miss it terribly.

Okay guys I'm a bit further in the process, but still not ready..... (can't manage the time to open the system, I use it as a daily driver so can't live without music ).

I've managed to get a X9 2012 Europe maps DVD's. I've unzipped the files and these are all .z extension which are read by the Nissan system. I've tried to unzip these files by the help of some crafty engineers but it's still not giving a right picture.

So our maps are in the following structure:

• aadiains\
• cddb\
• house001\
• mapal001\
• rdstm001\
• refer001\
• voice001\
• vorec001\
• zzdiains\
• mmain001.dat

So when I tried to unzip the X9 system it gave a totally 'other' directory structure which I couldn' place at all.
/DBDIR/PLUMSDB/ /DBDIR/PLUMSDB/EDSYS/ /DBDIR/PLUMSDB/EDUSER/ /DBDIR/PLUMSDB/EDWORK/ /DBDIR/PLUMSDB/SPOOL/

Then I had help from a GPS guru which told me that my system is Actually a Navteq X7 system, so I dowloaded Renault Carminat V32.1 and unzipped it, which gave:

• AADIAINS
• ADD00000
• CHARA001
• COORD001
• CRO00000
• FRWAY001
• ICODE001
• INDEX001
• MAPAL001
• RDSTM001
• VOICE001
• XPICT001
• ZZDATA
• ZZDIAINS
• ZZPROG
• MMAIN001.dat

So from this I conclude that the Nissan system converts something from the X9 DVD to this. Or After the first 2009 update they stopped using the X7 system and the latest system directory now totally is different.

The reason why I need a euro image 2012/2013 is to confirm this.

Steps now:

1. Buy a 40GB IDE HDD to trial & error things --> already bought one, but am not sure if it works
2. Write the X7 directory to the new HDD. This will take some steps and will take some time.
3. Strip the cars dashboard and try the new HDD and see if I've got Euro maps
4. Hopefully someone will help me get an image so I can test/check if there are differences and so we could/can use future X9 updates to work with.

BTW if I've got this working is there someone who wants a Unit ?

When the MFDs changed in NA 2011 so did the delivery format of the maps; in NA 2009-2010 you had to get the update done at the dealership (you bought a key online then took that to the dealer). With NA 2011+ you can just order the updates from NavTeq (now Here) get a pack of DVDs and install them yourself. Not sure if this altered the format of the maps themselves, or if the self updates became practical as the NA 2011+ cars had a DVD drive (instead of just a CD).

The real interesting thing to me would be to change the gauge displays to change the units on the boost gauge for example

Is there any update on this at all? My HDD failed, according to what the MFD display message is. I took it apart and hooked the HDD up to my windows PC. The drive spins without any clicking, and is viewable through device manager, yet is not viewable through disk management, and any software I try to use hangs when scanning the disk, including my BIOS when I reboot the PC.

Do you have a 09-10 HDD disk image? If so, did you find out if any IDE 2.5 HDD will work once it is cloned? Is the HDD locked to the car, or can we share images?

I didn't see this thread until after I had already taken the unit apart and reassembled it, so I didn't try the tools "Magic BootDisk" you mentioned above.

I did send my HDD out to a HDD recovery specialist, and although they were able to unlock the drive, they were unable to recover any of the corrupted media.

Does anyone here have a HDD image, or if not, a stock HDD for sale?

I can also try o hdd copy but don't have the time at the moment.

There was no update because most of the cba has been switched to dba head unit and better resolution screen incl. native Bluetooth.

Hey thanks.

I was able to purchase a board and HDD that got me back up and running. The board went bad, which in turn corrupted the HDD so took that out as well. I made sure to image my replacement HDD, and put that image on an SSD so to hopefully avoid any future storage failures. And I now have an image just in case.
