not surprised. happens literally all the time. back when I was big into Z's in the mid 00's it happened every year we went up there. now with the GTRs I know of like 4 bad incidents up there. thats why i quit going as much like I used to. for me its a been there done that type thing where its not worth it anymore to risk someone speeding meeting me the other way on a curve up there on a crowded event weekend

Be responsible, don't treat it as a race track, and you're fine.

Don't push the car 100% or 100% to your comfort level. Make sure you have good sight lines ahead before you push a corner and things can be fun. I took mine on the dragon last year and it was a blast. 2,500 mile road trip.

I know this guy personally..Was just a freak accident..said there was some debris on the road and lost traction..Such a shame as he only had the car for about a month..less than 2k miles on it..Luckily the tree's were there..car might be totaled but he's still alive...car would have went over the cliff otherwise..

I know this guy "personally" as well, David Brown from Charleston right? He tried to sell me a bunch of his ragged out used '09 GTR parts for almost full price before he traded it in plus 2 other cars for the 2017 one thats toasted now. I hate to see this happen and I'm glad he is ok. He is lucky he hit a tree and didnt lose his life.

I've been racing for years and I know this area very well as I've primarily raced 1000cc+ bikes on it. Cars go off the side on a day to day basis and the road will eat up unexperienced drivers for lunch. A freak accident is a tree falling in front of you or an animal running across the road and having to avoid the obstacle at the last given second. A freak accident is not trying to show off for the cameras and going WOT coming out of a turn. Every road has debris on it and I'm sure the police report will denote what was found.

The only time you'll see the rear of a stock GTR kick out like that is when your VDC is off. Which would be the dumbest thing to do on a road like this unless if you are a professional driver.

He probably could have saved it if there wasn't that quick next corner where he crashed. The basically equates to lack of experience on this road and driving too fast through that sequence of corners.

I like how you define the term "freak accident." So true. Anyways here's the dragon being done right. I'm never pushing the car 10/10 but certainly having fun on the road.

Incidents happen on and off track. Many different incidents for many potential reasons.
