===================================================================================================================

Having gone through a drought of new GT-Rs during the last several months, I thought it would be a great idea and a service to our community to dedicate a thread/discussion that talks about latest number and deals, or not, available in the market.

I usually check CarGurus, AutoTrader, and sometimes Cars.com, and Nissan.com to get the latest numbers of GT-R available in the market. It goes without saying that some of these number are not 100% accurate but accurate enough to give prospective buyers an idea of the current GT-R market condition.

So, I'll start the conversation with a history of the 3 days, when I noticed that the numbers of new GT-R jumped from around ~4 to ~26 (extended history shown on charts above).

17Aug2021:
  • 17 new GT-Rs in CarGurus
  • 26 new GT-Rs in AutoTrader
18Aug2021:
  • 24(+7) in CarGurus
  • 27(+1) in AutoTrader
20Aug2021:
  • 22(-2) in Car Gurus (so, they are selling. I wonder at what price)
    • Break down by state: 3AZ, 1ID, 1TX, 7CA, 4GA, 5DE, 1FL
  • 25(-2) in AutoTrader
  • 16 in Cars.com
  • 10 in Nissan.com (you can see why I don't frequent these last 2 sites)
*** FUTURE DATA WILL BE REFLECTED ON CHART ABOVE

Note: A few members, including myself, have experienced dealer mark ups on some of these GT-Rs. And just based on CarGurus, there are some Premium GT-R going for $150K.

Feel free to add comments like what type of deals you're seeing in your area, colors, trim, etc., and maybe even the level of customer service you're getting from your dealer. I know some of us put a lot of value on that as well.

==========23Oct2021============
A significant jump on pre-owned cars available in the market. Must be that time of the year.

==========15Dec2021============
230 available pre-owned GTRs in the market! at 30% above normal value. I don't remember seeing this many since 2016, although I could be wrong.

So Toyota just said they're cutting production by 40% and the other big companies like GM, VW and Stellantis are also about to. This means we should see prices stay above for longer well into next year. Chip shortage ain't going any where any time soon...

I purchased a used 8,000 mile 2021 Premium in June for $124k and felt lucky to have found it. If I were selling it today on Autotrader I would list it for $145k. This is an example of how fast these cars are appreciating. The low production and rarity are the reasons these cars are priced at their levels. They were among the lowest depreciating cars, but of course they are now appreciating quickly. In February of this year I purchased a new 2021 Premium for $116k from a dealer in Arizona and that included free shipping to me in Texas. I sold the car a couple of months later for $117k because I simply did not like the exterior/interior colors.

I have no problem with the cost of GTR's because I personally prefer relatively rare cars that one does not commonly see on the streets. And I know that their depreciation in normal times is very low compared to other cars. My only exception is that I feel the Nismo is highly over-priced and I would never purchase one; just my opinion.

So, I was having a conversation with one of the dealers, and he made it sound like there were no more GTRs in the market. So I decided to do a quick market research, and this is what came up (yes, I got on the phone and called all these dealerships):

CityYearColorPrice

New Castle, DE21Red

Scottsdale, AZ21BlackMSRP+$10K
Matteson, IL21SS
$141,040
Stafford, TX21BlackMSRP+MU
Note: MU = Mark Up (existing, but not disclosed)

Granted, they are no where close to MSRP, but they are out there.

A few things to note, there are a few 2020s in Orange, CA that are not being advertised. Also, a few of the dealers have inbounds besides what is shown above. And lastly, New Castle, DE claims to have had 9 coming in, and already sold 7. They are the only ones asking for MSRP at this moment. Van Nuys gets the "Douche Bag" customer service award. The guy was very rude at the end of the conversation.

Note: Be advised, if you call a dealership using the phone listed in CarGurus, CarGurus will provide your name and information based on your Goggle account (from what I could tell). If you don't want them to know who you are, get the dealer's phone number from the dealer's website.

Scottsdale Arizona is gone :cool: And I got them down to a $5k dealer markup, was better than anyone else out there, and they had the only black on black

I bought a 2021 black on black from that dealer last February for $116k. I sold it shortly thereafter because the colors just didn't do it for me. A dealer bought it for $117k.

You can't beat that!

On a separate note, do you care sharing your first impressions of the M4 as it compares to the GTR?
I'm interesting to see if you share the same observations I made in this thread: Post #6; M4 - GTR Comparison

I agree with your comments regarding the M4. I have owned three GTR's, and currently own a 2021 Premium. I love the car and it is probably overall my favorite car among many that I have owned (R8, M4, AMG C63s, etc.) I owned a 2021 M4 Competition (paid $91k) which had the standard rear wheel drive. I liked the car but hated the sport seats so I sold it ($91k) and ordered a 2022 M4 Competition with the xdrive. I think if both cars are stock the GTR would win in a drag race but a very close race within one second separating the two, in my opinion. The BMW M4 is much more refined in all aspects both electronically, interior, and especially the 8 speed tranny. The GTR is outdated and over-priced but a nice car with great performance; and a car easily modified as is mine. The GTR is more rare and holds their resale value very high; among the lowest depreciating cars. The BMW's are known for rapid depreciation; the M3/M4's are more common than the GTR but still relatively rare.

probably a lot since there are only 50 and not just any dealer can get them it seems

I'm more curious about the nismo special edition it was sold out before anyone could even order one. Were these cars all sold to dealership owners or something? Will be Interesting to see what they list for when any ever surface. The car lists for $215k That's already getting ridiculous for a GTR even for those that consider themselves fairly wealthy. Markup on top of that is just unrealistic unless money isnt an object
