Hi all.

I just upgraded to ecutek from Cobb and when I am trying to upload my car info to the tuner comes up with an error and says "phone flash cant send info because there is no VIN", which means I cant tune the car and I have to get the usb dongle...
My car is an ADM delivered 2012 R35...

Anyone encountered this before? Any ideas as to what I can try to fix this?

Was watching some old B is For Build videos. He couldn't tune his GTR with Ecutek because it had a Cobb tune on it already (could have been the other way around, could not remember for sure). Anyways, he was able to fix it by having a tuner completely remove the old tune first before using an Ecutek tune.

I removed the Cobb completely before I use ecutek
Anyway I am on the process of tuning it with the usb cable 🤣 not sure if it’s worth it paying someone with a consult to add the vin n the ecu

Think for the first install you need a laptop and cable and can’t use your phone.

I used to uninstall Cobb yearly to install Exutek to run an inspection tune.

This is what I do:

1. Uninstall Cobb ECU - not TCM
2. Install Ecutek and load the file twice
3. Make sure all monitors are ready and get inspection sticker - stay out of boost and drive like an old lady
4. Uninstall Ecutek and reinstall the stock style rom twice (2x).

Are you getting the error on the first install ?

Did you leave the Cobb TCM tune on ?

Thanks man. No I completely uninstall Cobb. Tcm too. I have sold the Cobb since then. You think there was an issue with uninstalling Cobb?

Not sure, could be. Cobbs pretty good with knowing if you uninstalled and put the stock tune back on cause it takes forever lol.

I’d shoot someone with a good deal of experience a call or email/pm and ask - like a big shop - Cicio, T1, AMS, JoTech, etc.

May take some while for a response since they are all at Tx2k ripping it, but will most likely know the answer to your question.
