So Chris From AMS sends me a tune without p1220 , cool that all goes well , now i have no codes

So i go the get the emissions done and the Computer rejects the car.. It does not mean Fail , it just does not have enough data to start the procedure.. I'm like OK? the guy says go drive the car for 20 minutes and come back..

The next day i drive the car for 25 minutes come back , same shit Not enough data , rejected.. another 18 bucks.. guy tells me maybe you need to drive it a little longer city not highway.. Im like OK..

The next day i drive the car 1 hour through traffic .. come back and Fucking A .. Rejected .. this time instead of 3 parameters not meet its 2 .

One is called OBD EVAP And the other OXY SNSR

so I get home and do some research and find out i have to do a "drive cycle"

an example..

http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl765h.htm

http://www.paladinmicro.com/documents/OBDIIDriveCycle.pdf

so for the EVAP.. i need to drive for 15 minutes between 45-65 MPH no less no more.. I just did that 30 minutes ago and tomorrow i will head back to donate another 18.99

I am allowed one parameter to show up and it will start the diagnosis ..

For all you guys that will be doing emissions.. make sure after you clear your codes you give yourself some time before going to take this stupid test..

do you have access to a obd II scanner?

after checking and clearing a code do a quick scan to see which particular monitor is not ready...take out the guess work before showing up to the emission station
I don't have a OBD scanner.. I just need one of two to process.. Since my car does not have OXY sensor , my only hope is to get the EVAP to kick in.. I did a drive cycle yesterday.. Ill do another one today and then give it a shot tomorrow.. found this 25 year tech saying sure fire way to get it to kick in.. ill try that today

Arench :

Here is s sure-fire way to ready this car.

3/4 fuel .
Park for 9 hours.
Start and idle engine with A/C off for 15 minutes.
Stop engine for 5 minutes.

and idle for 4 minutes

Arench :

drive car with steady throttle 50mph for 12 minutes.

Arench :

you may want to print that out.

Arench :

Faulty pcm would be concluded only if the code returns and a wire by wire diagnosis of the rear oxygen sensor shows no faults.

Arench :

during the parking for 9 hours phase the key must not be turned on

well Rejected again..

Chris is sending me some OXY sensor /spacer , that will allow him to turn on the 420-430 code and hopefully that will allow the testing to continue!

Ill keep you guys posted in a few days..

You can buy an OBD II scan tool that will show readiness at nearly any auto parts store. If its frustrating, its just about a $100 thing.

This one "says" it does it for $21.45

I have this one, and it shows readiness with a light. I have had to put over 100 miles on some cars to set readiness.
