GT-R for $55k USD is it possible?

I'm in Afghanistan right now and I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with a cash deal of around 55K USD for an 09-10 when I get back. I don't care which state I can travel to wherever to pick it up during my 45 days of leave after this deployment. What are the odds of finding something like this? Any thoughts?

From what I've seen, it's possible to find a high mileage 09 for in the mid 50's. Lower if it's very high mileage or in average/below shape.
Well what exactly would you consider high mileage? I wouldn't mind something around 20-25k just because I would imagine the tranmission problems would have flared up already if there were any at all
You may be able to find one.

But be careful. Cars priced that low will be among the lowest priced in the country. I would assume high mileage, and suspect some other issues may be present at that price. Heavy track use, brakes and tires in need of replacement, need of fluids to be changed, cosmetic blemishes, paintwork, previous mechanical issues, etc.

I was looking at a 2010 with 19k miles that had a rebuilt transmision but the dealer offered and extended waranty and they want 59k for it
possibly they would go down to 55k maybe later in the winter months. It does not have a clean title so like SleepDoc said its a risk

I would say 30k-45k miles.
Thanks for the input guys. I can probably afford to 60k outright. ( I hate payments) so I think I might have to look more towards that price to avoid the nasty 20k transmission bill on a vehicle without the warranty any more.

You can always get the extended warranty. Ranges from like 1200-7000 depending on the number of years or miles.
Just out of curiosity kona where are you from? HI? I was stationed at Schofield before I came to Afghanistan.

Yup. Grew up in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Now in Boston area.

Ah. You must have loved it there. I go back to Oahu once in a while, since my parents moved there after I went to College.

Stay safe in Afghanistan!
Oh man I absolutely loved it there. I can't wait to go back to Waiamea Bay. It's one of my favorite places in the world (I've been to 27 countries). I'm actually thinking of staying in Hawaii for a few more years despite the high deployment rate of the units there.
Transmissions are no longer $20,000. That was just when the car was released. I have seen 2 GTR's on autotrader in the mid 50's. Mileage was around 40k to 50k. As stated above the primary concern is the service history and conditions of the tires. If you need to change all the fluids and get 4 new tires that will cost $4,000+. If it is well maintained I would buy a high mileage GTR. The minimal "issues" with the GTR have been exagerated. I drove 22,000 miles in 12 months with zero issues with the car. I cannot say that about any BMW's I have owned. Vanos failure and navigation failure on M Coupe, 3 fuel pumps, software upgrades and fuel injectors on 535xi, etc. I would not be concerned with a high mileage GTR out of warranty. You can receive very good support from aftermarket suppliers. Good luck with your purchase.

Yeah. Waimea bay rules! Hope to go back and visit this year.
Oatz, where is this dealership? Is it a black 2010? If so- send me the VIN so I can make sure it's not the one I think it is.

Great man , I salute you .
Ech leatherneck...the worst base ive been to in Afghanistan.
Sure its quiet, but the PX sucks ass..is ALWAYS full...and we had tents.

What i couldnt understand is that they had a shit ton of cans for people to stay in and they were vacant.

Probably the best food tho.

And again, its quiet.
