My 2009 GT-R with just under 20,000 miles is having issues with the transmission. I have taken it to Nissan to complain 2-3 times and have always been told that it is "normal", but there is no way that it is. It makes a grinding noise that sounds similar to synchro grinding (that I had in a previous car) but occurs just after acceleration in reverse and first mostly. It can also occur in mid power gear shifts in other gears. I know it can't be normal because when it happens it robs the car of a good bit of power and can cause clutch smell. Also, people always grimace, even the Nissan tech guys, when they first hear it.

It all started when I went from LC1 to LC2 in early 2011. I have attached a couple of mp3 sound files with what it sounds like in the car with my iPhone. Please somebody help me figure this out! Thanks for any help!!

The last one in the long clip is a normal acceleration without the sound. All others were made in reverse and have the grinding. It sounds worse in person, and I'll try to get a higher quality recording soon.

Check out this link to my post just a few days ago. I am having the exact same issues.

Watch the video link from youtube and tell me if thats the same if not very similar to your car issue.
Hate to see another gtr tranny go.
My suggestions (what I am doing tomorrow) Get the car to the shop. even if the dealer tells you its normal i can assure you that is not a normal sound. get the pan off and the problem should be evident from there.

That sounds like it is worse, but similar to the issue I am having. Please let me know how things go with yours!
It is not "normal" and am shocked that Nissan has told me that from two different shops.
