I am thinking about going with a midpipe with a resonator but am afraid of the all mighty drone. My wife says I can upgrade as long as it does not become loud like my last project car
.If you have an exhaust upgrade I would love to listen to your car live. I am in Edmonton and would appreciate to setup a meeting. Please email me at [email protected] or pm me with your contact information.

Also please post what you have and how do you find it?

1. Is it loud?
2. Does your neighbours complain?
3. How do you like it?
4. Would you do it again the same way?
5. Don't forget to post your setup.

I've got about as loud of an exhaust setup as possible.
I have AMS catless downpipes, catless resonatorless willall midpipe and a AAM catback with an electric cutout. It is very loud when I get on it, but I don't really notice any annoying drone with it. I have done 14hours straight on the highway and it wasn't an issue. I live in a cul-de-sac of 7 houses. My one neighbour has an R8 and revs the crap out of it all the time, and another neighbour who has an 8 car garage full of muscle cars. I don't concern my self if they care or not. I really like it except the weight of the catback. I am considering a titanium catback to drop some more weight for autoX.

I have T1R Turbo back exhaust and I had it for fews year. If you are plannning to run Y-pipe and cat-back, there won't be any droning. Wife, mother in-law and son never complained.

If you have down pipes then it will be loud during the first startup and about 1-2 minutes it quiets down.

Hey Streetgear,

As krea.tion pointed out, I also have a very loud setup, similar components to sti-tom. Cat less Down and Mid pipes (non-resonated) and Meistershaft dual rear section.

When the car is started, it is absolutely deafening in my garage - I live on a straight street (Rather than a cul-de-sac) and it shakes the surrounding houses. My neighbor down the road, and around the corner can hear it start if he has his windows open.

That being said, I LOVE the sound. The car is a monster, especially after you do some initial modifications, and I think it needs to sound as mean as it is. I am also respectful about it - I start my car and use it whenever I want, but I wouldn't during the late evening (After 11:00PM lets say) or really early in the morning. I just don't want to piss my neighbors off more than necessary, and I think they pick up on that. I agree with sti-tom in the fact that I don't REALLY care if people don't like how loud my car is, but I do go out of my way to try and minimize the disturbance.

It also means I need to crawl into the neighborhood late night, to try and keep the sound down. No one has ever complained to date.

I've been on a few road trips, both before and after the Exhaust work. On a recent trip to Kelowna, BC, around 10-12 hours depending on the traffic, I did find the drone quite distracting. If I kept music on, it wasn't so much of an issue, but the decibel reading in the cabin was around 90 @ 120 KM/h. My girlfriend was with me, and had to bring earplugs so she could sleep - I am used to the car, so like I said, with music, I was totally fine. Without music on however, I think it would get to me pretty quick.

Given the choice to go back, I would do it all again.

Here is a video a local videographer made of the car, so you can get an idea of what it sounds like:

Great video Btown,,, beautiful really,,, makes me want to go for a drive!

I'm currently running the OEM downpipes with a true 90mm resonated mid-pipe followed with a 90mm cat-back exhaust of Titanuim.

Definetly louder and a very slight drone, not disturbing at all. I'm very pleased with the outcome.

Like you mentioned though, very loud in the garage!!

Nice video as well and would love to meet up some time. It does sound very loud and the description of the air plugs makes me laugh as my wify does that at times on some of my other cars. BTW I noticed on your signature you mention full 3M wrap. I want to get that done as well. Who does that type of work in Edmonton that one can trust...

I've heard good things about CarPretty, but I would suggest you go to Garage Works. The website can be found here: http://garageworksonline.com/

Call, and ask for David Lee - He is the owner and is a fantastic guy. They do work on a ton of high end imports, and do a ton of full vinyl / 3M work. They were at the Edmonton Car Show this year, and had on display a fully matte black vinyl wrapped LP640. I can't think of another shop I would trust more, especially knowing how David runs things over there.

My $0.02
