Hello forum members first post here !! About to take the plunge this Saturday on a 1 owner 2015 low mileage gtr. Had the gtr off and on in my sights for,, well for some time now and iam ready to pull the trigger. Iam saying good bye to the f80 m3 and well "upgrading to the gtr ".

Before I turn this post into a typical what do I look for when buying. Iam bringing my elctrometer paint gauge, carly scanner and a decent knowledge of cars. i still can't shake the feeling that I will miss somthing that could cost alot early on that I could catch on a test drive with your help. Heard the dct can be a bit (clunky) turbo lag till about 4k. I know it's not going to ride like a rolls. Iam going to go in amd out of this car will have them put it on a lift to check under carriage. They did a ppi at a Nissan dealer and came back pretty good with nothing to write home about. Anyways if you guys have any thoughts post em. Here's the car iam getting into and current garage

You would want to know if the car has had any programming due to simple modifications, and if so, do you get the programmer (Cobb or Ecutek) with the car?

I personally wouldn't say that either a stock or FBO GT-R has significant "turbo lag."

Plenty of things to look for, there are plenty of threads for this here.

You should really pay for a PPI and pull the maintenance records from a Nissan dealer.

Go into your local Nissan dealer with a box of donuts or preferably Starbucks treats and ask the service manager or GTR tech to run the vin.

What dealer are you buying it from - post the vin here.

I see since I put the deposit in the dealer took it off the market. I had them send me the carfax. Problem is the dealer that serviced the car didn't fo into detail on what was performed. The car is a 1 owner no crashes with 27k on the clock. One thing I don't like already are the service dates, I can't be sure but the previous owner could have been driving it in winter there's a few February dates logged. It could be hey its nice,,salts off the road iam gonna take it in or this was his daily. If it seen 8 winters iam going to pass on this on and get my money back

It really depends on where the car has lived most of its life. In places like CO, the winters aren't the types where the car needs to be parked the entire season. Although there might be snow packed days, there are also nicer days where there isn't any residual snow on the roads and it is completely fine to take the fun cars out. If it's in other areas like the Midwest or East Coast where the snow might hang around for months, then I totally understand the dilemma.

Are you only looking for stock, unmodified cars?

Keep in the back of your mind that if you live in a State that has extreme emissions testing, and the car has been modified in common ways, it might not pass without further work/expense on your part. You might always bring that into your negotiations and conversations with the Dealer, and see what transpires...

Iam not sure the dba generation is going to do it for me. I've never been a interior snob but this f80 might have ruined future purchases from other manufacturers for me. I know there 2 totally different cars that really shouldn't be compared.
From here on out iam going to have to shop for 2017 plus, interior looks a bit more of what iam after. More options, seems from pics more luxurious. Plus reviews stated that the tranny isint as clunky.
This 2015 that I test drove was my very first test drive. This car felt like it had 127,000 miles not 27,000 miles. The drivetran felt worn lots of play lots of noise way different than the dct in my f80. Since it's my first drive I can't say if it's normal or not.
Iam not going to rush into this (shop) and go cross country for the car once a month, With that said there really isint a abundance sitting around on dealer lots to test drive amd iam far to busy to make this my life mission atm.

You really cant trust these dealers, besides the fact that in general not a fan of the dba gen interior it looked like raccoons were nesting in there for 6 months. Scratches all over plastic, stains on plastic and seats, gouges all over front and back of interior, speaker cover partly pushed In on door. Who the hell does that to there 100k car. And hear I was feeling ashamed let them know right away that my f80 m3 cup holder had a scratch in it and one wheel had a inch of barely visible curb rash for the only cosmetic faults with my trade.

Needless to say the search continues.......

Pics haven’t shown up on Tapatalk for years - mods nor tech support ever fixed it and owners could care less.

Hard to compare an F80 interior to a GTR - two totally different cars and functional uses. You are right the 17 is much more of a tourer car.

FWIW it’s hard to compare a F80 to a G series either.

I wish the R35 had a similar look to my F95, but it didn’t happen and won’t.

It’s a Nissan

Having owned a 2015 and now a 2016, I can say the 15 was much clunkier and noisier even though it was only a year difference so it's not your imagination.

Sounds like you're looking for something more refined with less wear. The 2017+ might be the better choice but be prepared to pay substantially more for those refinements. Even then, the GTR is still a very mechanical sounding and feeling car so you may need to adjust your expectations.

Yup iam going to have to pay more plain and simple it sucks !!. The market is so upside down,, i look at a 2020 7k miles for 115 k might as well buy new.

Big problem with new is the adm. I went to my local Nissan dealer a month ago talking to the sales manager about the gtr ......he's like yeah I got one coming there's going to be a 40-50k market adjustment,, my jaw dropped, I wanted to slap the dollar signs right outta his eyeballs. Instead i politely said no thanks and left.

Iam perfectly fine with race car mechanics and the sounds they make. In lue with how the interior was treated I was worried that the drivetrain might have been neglected as well. I was so excited to hand over my keys with a check but I just couldn't do it.

40-50k market adjustment - you gotta post that dealers name. Hopefully it’s not a “friend” of yours.

Contact Osamma at Nexus Auto Brokers he will get you something for much less.

He’s local to the Cicio shop so if it’s stock you can send it there and go FBO or swap in some turbos and love it even more.

Good luck with the 17+ search

Thanks droptopp. That dealer is no friend of mine never did any business with them before or will i ever. They had a 40 k markup on the new z sitting in there showroom which to me is down right laughable.

I.checked nexus inventory thru this site, there cars look good, iam wondering now if I can find a dealer with gtr allocations for msrp or close to it. I would hate to pay the (new) car price for a used car if I didn't have to. 2017-2018 were going for 115 k on there site. I maybe be wrong (correct me if iam) feeling like it shouldn't be more than 100k for a 2017-2018 if 2013-16 are 80-90 k.

I did see nissan is either giving the car yet another refersh for 2023/2024 or going r36. Not sure what that will do to the market.

Not many 17+ produced, so it’s a sellers market and will always be.

Shoot Osamma a pm or call him and I’m sure he can give you an off the board price as well or locate an R35 for you.

The ADMs are definitely out there. There are plenty of low mileage '21 cars out there that are going to cost more than a brand new '23 with $15k ADM. Might as well just buy new at that price if history and condition is going to be a show stopper. Lot of white cars in inventory right now. VIN #s are now up to 269 with the latter deliveries taking place in early April.

I must have missed it but what state are you located in?

Wisconsin,, there's not exactly a (stock) of gtr's for sale by me. I saw that nexus broker but there in Georgia a bit far away. From the experience I had in Illinois, where the pics looked great till you got to check it in person. I am not taking any chances on pics nor what a s.a has to say about how great the condition is. I've never spent 100k on a car before iam not taking it lightly

Welcome to the GTRLIFE and soon to become a GT-R owner. Like others have said there is really nothing out there that compares to a Gt-R. F80 M3 is good but the only reason it was in our personal collection was due to manual transmission :) but that got old quick. Anyways 17+ is where it's at. 16 and below will feel dated anyways due to your prior M car experience.

We have sold more Gt-Rs than anyone on this planet and I think at this point in every state and many countries out of the US.

As far as distance that was a conversation in 90s now no one talks about that. get on a plane show up if FaceTime is not that great for you :)

However we DO AGREE on your experience. we purchase too many cars for our personal collection and have had that experience but FaceTime is a good option.

Either way if we can assist in any way let us know. no pressure dealing from our side as our stuff sells without us trying to sell it :D

Good luck and we hope you join the GT-R family soon
