Hey guys,

I have the opportunity to buy a used GTR for a super cheap price. It has extremely high miles for a GTR. Somewhere around the 113,000 mark. I've done research and the price seems to be on point. My concern is what to look for. I've seen a few threads on here regarding stuff to look for on low mile cars, but what about such high mile cars? My biggest concern is things like mechanical longevity of it? I have the funds to do repairs as needed, but really just want something different than a LS motor.

If the trans goes, can transmissions from other years be swapped into it? The engine is also a concern with that amount of miles. This is all preemptive and speculative questions regarding future maintenance. I've personally inspected it, with no noticeable mechanical defects. The engine seems to run properly and efficiently. The trans seems fine. Are there any major red flags I should look for?

I dont see why it would be a huge issue.

The real issue is that:

1) the money you "save" you will actually lose because it will be tough to sell.
2) the money you "save" is, essentially, a gamble because I have no doubt you *will* need to repair and replace items since the car is at 100k+ miles

Spend more, get a car with WAY less miles that is in WAY better shape.

ATS, it depends. It is always a gamble buying a high mileage used sports car. However, not all miles are created equal. If the owner has maintenance records, worn parts replaced, and the car looks as if it was taken great care of, that's a great start. Next step would be a PPI. I would DEF get the compression pulled, get the car up on a lift and inspected underneath, check the rotors and pads as those are expensive, tires, diff/fluid changes, etc. If all checks out then great, you did your part. Car should be pretty solid if all checks out

A well maintained car with a good service history for the right price should not be an issue in my book. Let a specialist go through the car.

If it has full dealer maintenance history, it is a better gamble than if it had nothing.

From what I have seen, even high mileage GT-R's go for around 48k. You could spend 20k more and get one with like 15k miles on it. Unless the car is being sold for like 30k or something ridiculous I would buy one with less miles and still use the advice about getting everything checked out.
